Year 1/2 Writers Workshop
On Wednesday, 28th May, a group of enthusiastic Year 1 and 2 students took part in a writing workshop with author Anna Zobel. The workshop, titled Imagination, Invention and Play: Thinking Like a Writer, encouraged students to explore their creativity.
Carnegie was one of four schools who joined the video chat, where Anna shared how to plan, write, and edit a mystery story. She guided the students through the process of writing their own exciting stories.
Throughout the day, each student wrote for a total of 106 minutes—a fantastic effort from all our young writers!
Read below to see what some students had to say about the experience.
“I loved how we let our imaginations go wherever it led us.” Mickey 2C
“I liked how I spent all my effort doing drawing and writing.” Lewis 1B
“I liked how Anna told us about all her stories and history stories as well. We heard a story about the Old Library Keepers and one about the Lost Lighthouse Keepers.” Dalia 2E
“I liked how we learned about history and we let our imagination take us away. I also enjoyed writing our own short story.” Alice 2B
