Junior School News

As we come to the end of Term Two, it is the perfect moment to pause and reflect on just how much our students have achieved. From the first day to now, we have seen outstanding growth in every aspect of school life - learning, friendships, confidence, and independence. It has been such a joy to watch each child take on new challenges, celebrate successes, and continue to grow into their unique selves.

Reaching the halfway point of the year is a real accomplishment, and we could not be prouder of how far everyone has come. A big thank you to our dedicated teachers and supportive families who make it all possible.

Take a look below to see some of the highlights from each year level - including what our students have loved most about their learning journey so far this year!

We love Year One because...

Some reasons why we love Year Two..

Some of our curious little Preppies made a magical discovery this week - fairies in the school garden! With wide eyes and big imaginations, they found tiny notes and special signs that fairies had been nearby. Rumour has it, some kind-hearted and creative Year Fives may have had something to do with the fairy fun... What a beautiful moment of wonder and kindness shared between our youngest and older students!

Exploring Our Community

Last week, our Junior School students set off on an exciting excursion linked to our topic “Our Health is Our Wealth,” focusing on who can help us in our community and how we can stay safe.

The day began with a visit to the Sandringham Police Station, where students met local officers, asked many questions, and had the thrilling experience of sitting inside a real police car. The loud sirens were definitely a highlight - echoing throughout the village and bringing huge smiles to many faces!

On their walk through the community, students also passed the local vet, where they gave a cheerful wave to the team inside and spotted the friendly chickens happily pecking around in the front garden - a delightful surprise!

The final stop was the Sandringham Library, where students enjoyed the peaceful and quiet atmosphere. It was the perfect contrast to the excitement of the morning, giving everyone a moment to slow down, explore some books, and take in the calm.

It was a wonderful day full of discovery, community connection, and meaningful learning - one that won’t be forgotten anytime soon!

A big shout-out to Miss Moloney for all the amazing support she gives across our classrooms. She’s always ready to jump in and help wherever needed, and we’re so lucky to have her! It was especially lovely to see her in action with 1P last week - what a great week it was! Thanks for everything you do, Miss Moloney! (For those confused the brunette Irish Miss Moloney)

The Feast of Sacred Heart

Last week, our school community came together to celebrate The Feast of the Sacred Heart with the joyful theme of "A Happy Heart and a Healthy Body."

We began our special day with a beautiful whole-school Mass, where the junior school filled the church with their loud and proud voices, singing the entrance hymn "Lord of the Dance" and our much-loved Sacred Heart song. It was a truly uplifting and faith-filled moment for all.

The celebrations continued with a vibrant rotation of activities in house colours, bringing lots of fun and energy across the school. From a dance party and water relay to football skills and a calming origami craft session, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

It was a day full of spirit, smiles, and community - a true reflection of what Sacred Heart is all about!

As we head into the school holidays, we hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved break after a busy term. Whether you're staying cozy at home or escaping the cold on a fun trip away, we wish you a restful and relaxing time with family and friends. We look forward to seeing everyone back refreshed and ready for Term 3!
