From the Principal

As we approach the end of Term 2, the colder weather has certainly made its presence felt with plenty of wind and rain. Our Foundation teachers have turned this seasonal change into a valuable learning opportunity by engaging students in a rich language experience centered around U is for Umbrella. This has included vocabulary building activities featuring winter related items such as hats, gloves, scarves, raincoats, and gumboots. It’s been a joy to see our youngest learners so enthusiastically involved.
Thank you to our dedicated staff for their dedication and efforts throughout Term 2. They have provided diverse and engaging learning experiences while also managing assessments and the preparation of individual student reports. I know many are looking forward to a well-earned break!
To our supportive parents and carers - thank you for your continued support, especially during the challenging winter mornings. We appreciate your efforts in getting your children to school each day. Attendance remains critically important to learning and wellbeing, and your partnership makes a big difference.
To our wonderful students - many of whom are tired and eagerly awaiting the holidays, yet continue to show up each day, strive to do their best, and live out our school RICH values. Their positive attitude and respectful behaviour make us proud, especially when out in the community. Our Year 1/2 students recently received outstanding feedback from the Legoland staff for their exceptional manners and conduct during their excursion. Well done, Year 1/2!
This is an important reminder of the power of good manners! Simple gestures like saying “please” and “thank you,” or responding clearly with “yes” and “no” rather than shrugging or nodding, leave a lasting impression. These are lifelong skills that we should all continue to model and encourage.
Looking ahead to Term 3, we are excited to announce the opening of the new MOD5 building. The Mandarin and Art programs will move into this space, and our STEM program will join the Environmental Education program in the same building. This will further support collaboration across our Specialist team and strengthen our Professional Learning Community (PLC) practices.
A final reminder to please book your Parent-Teacher Interviews and/or Student-Led Conferences via Sentral. Bookings will close tomorrow, Friday 27th June at 5pm. If you haven’t done so already, please book as soon as possible.
Next week, we will be farewelling Mrs Vicki Santavas, who is retiring after many dedicated years of teaching. She will be remembered for many contributions, particularly her passion in the Visual Arts program and commitment to numerous school community events. We thank her sincerely and wish her all the very best in this next chapter.
Please note that the last day of Term 2 is Friday 4th July, and students will be dismissed at 2:30pm. Ensure arrangements are in place so all students get home safely.
Wishing you all a happy and restful school holiday. A friendly reminder to stay vigilant with online safety over the break, as children may have more screen time and less supervision. Please see Page 2 of this newsletter and visit the eSafety website for helpful resources.
