It has been stupendo (wonderful) to see all of the studenti (students) participating with excitement during Italian lessons.
The Grade 5/6 studneti used all thier prior knowledge to write a conversation with a partner. They had to pretend they didn't know the person and it was the first time they were meeting.
Some of the questions were:
Ciao - Hello
Come ti chiami? - What is your name?
Mi chiamo Signora Gee, e tu? - My name is Mrs Gee, and you?
Mi chiama Emma. Dove abiti? - My name is Emma. Where do you live?
The studnets then performed thier conversation in front of the class. Ben fatto!!! Well done.
The Foundation / 1 studneti have been learning how to reply to someone when asks:
come stai oggi? - How are you today
bene - well
cosi cosi - so so
sto male - I feel bad
Semester 1 concludes with our last week of netball. The children have had loads of fun honing their throwing, catching and game skills.
The F-1 cohort focused on catching and throwing with different fun games. We've also actively discussed what good sportsmanship looks like, and used games such as Farmer Sam to put their thoughts into action!
The middle and senior year levels have extended their knowledge into match play. We've made it fun by using variations of the traditional game so that all children have been able to participate. This week we completed the sequence of lessons with a mini tournament, which brought some fierce rivalry. It was also entertaining to watch the boys do their very best not contest footy-style!
The last few weeks all classes have been finishing off our mixed media collage pieces in Art. They have been a wonderful process of learning, experimenting and patience using everything we’ve learnt this term. Such colourful fun creations that will be displayed next term throughout the school.
This week we’ve been doing lots of dancing to prepare for next term’s production! Students across the school have been learning popular dances from throughout history as part of our Dance Timeline – this is the grand finale of the show. As well as the finale, each class will have two songs to perform in the show from a specific decade. As you can see in this photo, the Year Fours have been finding the best disco moves from the 1970s!
