Foundation
Foundation students had a fun term exploring biomes, Earth’s layers, and how landforms like mountains and volcanoes are created. Through hands-on experiments and creative diagrams, they continued to build strong curiosity about how our planet works.
Level 1
Level 1 students learned how water is treated, explored our local creek, and tested materials to filter microplastics. They shared fantastic ideas for reducing plastic waste and designed solutions to help our community Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
Level 2
Level 2 students discovered how living things work together in an ecosystem. They built food chain models, learned how animals are classified, and researched and designed a pollinator garden in the kitchen garden to help improve biodiversity at HEPS.
Level 3
Level 3 students had a hands-on term in the kitchen garden-planting, harvesting, and helping prepare produce for the HEPS Harvest stall. They explored life cycles and researched the needs of chickens before designing their own chicken coops using isometric drawing tools.
Level 4
Level 4 students investigated how electricity is made, used, and saved. They explored different energy sources, created ideas to reduce energy waste at school, and designed renewable energy inventions to support communities in need. Their innovation and global thinking were impressive.
Level 5
Level 5 students explored human needs, community design, and sustainable architecture. They designed model neighbourhoods and created energy-efficient buildings using the principles of passive design.
Level 6
Level 6 students developed strong design and communication skills this term. They practised technical drawing methods before shifting their focus to marketing the sustainable products they created. They researched target audiences, key messages, and advertising strategies, and finalised their design folios with a polished product pitch.
