Principal's Message

As we wrap up another school year, we just want to say thank you for being part of such a positive and supportive community. 2025 has been a great year, with so many highlights and moments to be proud of.

We hope you enjoy a well-earned break with your family and friends. If you’re heading away, travel safely and take care.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone back at school on Thursday 29th January, 2026.

Until then, please enjoy the final newsletter of 2025.

End-of-Year Concert

Even though it was a very warm night, the children put on an absolute ripper of a show. It was a big day for them, and I was genuinely surprised at how much energy they still had as the clock ticked past 8.30pm!

One of the real highlights is always seeing our families come together to celebrate what matters most — our children. I also always look forward to hearing our graduates speak so openly and from the heart about their time at Bolinda. That’s something really special and unique to our school, and it’s a moment I always look forward to.

Thank you to all the families who braved the heat, to the children for being so engaged and enthusiastic, and to the staff for making sure the day ran so smoothly.

And just like that… we’ll do it all again next year.

Graduation Dinner

Our Year 6 students celebrated the end of their time at Bolinda Primary School in style with a special dinner at Soltan Pepper in Romsey. The students enjoyed sharing a meal together, lots of laughter, and creating memories to mark this important milestone.

They were incredibly excited about the evening — so excited, in fact, that their enthusiasm was hard to miss! While it may have been a little much for some of the other diners, it was wonderful to see such joy, confidence, and togetherness. Seeing how far these children have come over their time at Bolinda is truly amazing.

A huge thank you to School Council, who generously paid for the meals. It’s a wonderful way to thank our families for being part of our school community and to celebrate our students as they take their next steps.

The students truly made the most of every moment during our time away, and they more than earned their rest each night.

We travelled to Neerim East and arrived at a wonderful camp setting, which quickly became the backdrop for a huge range of activities and experiences. From archery and 9 Square in the Air to low ropes, team-building initiatives and some physically challenging rock climbing, it was an action-packed program that kept everyone moving.

The students were incredible in the way they embraced new experiences — from tackling the high activities and pushing themselves outside their comfort zones, to trying new foods and giving everything a go. They clocked up plenty of kilometres on foot as they explored the campgrounds, moved between activities, went bushwalking, built huts, and even tested their courage on Victoria’s second-longest flying fox.

Everyone was well fed, the weather was absolutely perfect, and the evenings were spent winding down together, including a fun trivia night before settling in for a well-earned sleep.

A huge thank you to Mrs Bloomfield and Mrs Bench, who ensured everything ran smoothly and supported the students every step of the way. It was a fantastic experience, full of growth, resilience and memories that will last a long time.

OSHC Update

We’re pleased to share that our OSHC application has now been submitted and has moved into the next stage of the process. From here, it’s a matter of waiting for the application to be reviewed and progressed.

While we won’t be up and running for Day 1 of Term 1, please be assured that work on this continues. I will be using time over the break to keep progressing the application wherever possible and to ensure we’re ready to move forward as soon as approvals are in place.

We’ll continue to keep families updated as we move through the next stages, and thank you for your patience and support as we work towards bringing OSHC to our school community.

Red Cross Pillowcase Incursion

A while ago now, our Year 2/3/4 class were lucky to welcome volunteers who spoke with them about emergencies and being prepared through the Australian Red Cross Pillowcase Project.

The Pillowcase Project is a child-friendly emergency preparedness program that helps students understand what emergencies are, how they might affect us, and what we can do to feel safer and more prepared. Through a range of engaging discussions and hands-on activities, the children learned about different types of emergencies and what important items they might need if they ever had to leave home quickly.

After exploring these ideas, the students then had the opportunity to create their own emergency pillowcase, filling it (and decorating it) as a way to remember the key items and strategies discussed. It was a practical, creative, and empowering way for students to think about safety while building confidence and resilience.

A big thank you to our volunteers for giving their time and sharing such valuable knowledge with our students.

Year 5 Garden Project

Our garden continues to take shape and will remain a strong focus again next year. Our Year 5 students have done a tremendous job in creating and developing the garden, and it’s been brilliant to see the front of the school being transformed. The students were rightly impressed with what they achieved, and so were we.

We can’t wait to see how the garden beds look after the break. In the past, our old garden beds were often overrun with weeds and became unmanageable, so seeing these new beds thriving is a huge and positive change.

Christmas Tree

We’re delighted to share that Bolinda Primary School was named Equal 1st Place – Best Community Group in the People’s Choice category of the Romsey Lights and Decorations Competition.

This recognition is a wonderful reflection of the strong community spirit that surrounds Bolinda Primary School, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to vote and support us.

Congratulations as well to Romsey Police, who shared first place with us, and to all the local businesses and community groups who helped make Romsey’s Main Street look so festive and welcoming this Christmas.

A heartfelt thank you to Romsey IGA for generously supporting the competition, and to everyone in our community who helped spread the Christmas cheer.
