R.E. NEWS
Advent
This Sunday is the second Sunday of Advent. We light the second purple candle, typically called the "Bethlehem Candle." This candle symbolises faith, reminding us of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem.
School Disco for St. Vincent De Paul Appeal
Students are invited to our Christmas Disco (see relevant dates below). Both discos will be held in our Primary Campus Hall.
Dress up in Christmas colours/attire! All money raised will go to St. Vincent de Paul, to help people in our local community.
DISCO ENTRY: $2
Please note: students will also be able to purchase drinks and chips on the night.

DROP OFF OPTIONS:
Please note there will be no parking inside the school grounds, for the safety of our students. If you would like to walk your child in, please park on Hillvue Road and enter through the front gate. There is a drive-through drop-off/pick-up option as well, entering through the main driveway (Hillvue Rd) and exiting the same way. Note: the usual Primary Kiss & Drop (from Wongala Street) is not open for use during either disco.
Parish Nativity Play
Father Roel has asked for children to volunteer for our Annual Parish Nativity Play, for the Christmas Eve Children's Mass at 6.00 pm. They will be prepared at school over the coming weeks. Please email Mrs Clarke at sclarke@arm.catholic.edu.au if your child would like to participate.
St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Appeal
Our appeal wraps up tomorrow, Friday 5th December! Please give generously to our annual St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Appeal. We ask all students and families to donate non-perishable food items that can be put into a Christmas hamper to help those families in our community who are struggling.
Confirmation Sashes
Can all Confirmation Candidates please check if they have accidentally taken home the white sash on loan for the Confirmation Mass? We have two missing. If found, please return it to the school as soon as possible. Thank you!
Advanced Notice
Friday, 12th December - End of Year Mass - K - 6, 10.00 am
Tuesday, 16th December - Year 6 Graduation Mass, 10.00 am. Parents are welcome to attend.
LIBRARY
Please return Library books
Thank you to all parents and carers who have helped return books to the library so far.
We’d love to have all overdue books returned by tomorrow Friday 5/12/25.
If your child brings home an overdue notice, we’d really appreciate your help in searching for the missing books - check around the house, in bookshelves, packing boxes, or anywhere they might have been tucked away - and sending them back to the library as soon as possible.
Students are welcome to return books any day of the week; they don’t need to wait until their usual library day.
If you believe a mistake has been made, students are very welcome to pop into the library so they can help locate the book in our system. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at cmichell@arm.catholic.edu.au
SORA - Get free eBooks and audiobooks from your school
We encourage students to continue reading during the school holidays. St Edward's students have access to SORA, an online library offering a wide range of eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines. To log in from home, students will need their school email address and password, which can be obtained from their teacher. Below are instructions for logging into SORA.
