Celebrating a year of Learning and Discovery at Hampshire House
It is with immense joy and gratitude that we reflect on another highly successful year at Hampshire House. Inspired by the innovative spirit of Reggio Emilia, our program has seamlessly woven in elements from Harvard's Project Zero’s “Cultures of Thinking”, creating a vibrant tapestry of exploration and growth. This year has been a testament to the power of child-centred learning, where curiosity blooms, creativity thrives, and young minds discover the world in their own unique ways. Our classrooms have been alive with provocations exploring inquiries into ‘transformation” which has sparked wonder and invited our children to investigate, hypothesise and create.
The tenets of Reggio Emilia which we embrace at Hampshire House have aligned beautifully with our school wide “Cultures of Thinking” and our teachers have incorporated thinking routines such as “See-Think-Wonder” to encourage our children to articulate their ideas and build on each other’s insights. This synergy has transformed our daily rhythms and routines into opportunities for deep engagement, where our little ones learn not just facts, but how to think critically and collaboratively. The children’s questions have sparked interesting long-term projects, as we have responded to their questions “Why does a chameleon change colour?”, “How does a tadpole become a frog?” or “What happens to ice when it meets something hot?”. By observing, researching and problem-solving together, our talented teachers, with the support of our experienced educational leader have created a learning culture where wonder and curiosity is celebrated.
Through these integrated philosophies, our children have developed dispositions such as persistence, empathy, and flexibility. We have seen shy little explorers become confident collaborators, and simple curiosities evolve into rich, multifaceted projects that connect art, science, numeration and literacy. In exploring fully, the “100 languages” of children not only do our children develop stronger problem-solving skills but they build enhanced emotional intelligence and a genuine love for learning that allows them to reach their full learning potential for preschool and beyond.
None of this would be possible without our dedicated team of teacher, who embody the Reggio Emilia model as true co-collaborators. A huge thank you to our talented Hampshire House team, for your passion, creativity and unwavering commitment to excellence. In listening intently to our children’s voices and co-constructing knowledge alongside them, you have created a nurturing space where every child feels seen, heard and empowered.
As we bid farewell to this year, we are filled with anticipation for the wonders ahead. Thank you, families, for your partnership in this journey. Here’s to more questions, more discoveries, and more growth in the coming year!
