Junior Future Stars Girls

On Thursday the 4th of December, the Future Stars girls Hoop Time team went to compete at the State Basketball Centre. This was the first time a Girls Jells Park Future Stars team has made it to State and only the second time a girls team from our school has reached this level!

We woke up super excited for our big day, getting dressed and ready for a fun day of basketball ahead. There were five other amazing teams in our section. We tried our best in every game and although we didn’t beat any of the teams in the round matches, we won our final game for the teams who didn’t make finals. We were so proud of ourselves for winning a game at State!

We also loved walking in the parade. We marched around Court One alongside all the other teams which was such an awesome experience.

Finally, we would like to thank Miss Callanan for getting us prepared, Mr Zach and Mr Antoniou for coming along to support us, Martin for being an amazing coach and all parents who came along and supported the team.

Junior All-Stars Boys

On Monday the 1st of December, our Year 3 and 4 Hoop Time team travelled to the State Basketball Centre to compete in the State Finals.

We started the day strong, winning our first game at 9:30am. After team photos and several more matches, we finished the round games with two wins and two losses.

We then walked in the Champions Parade, which is when they call out your school’s name and you walk out while everyone claps for you. It was such an exciting moment for all of us!

After the parade we played in the quarter final.

We lost by only 2 points, but we fought really hard. We even received a special T-shirt at the end. Overall, 8th place in the state for our age group, which is an amazing achievement that we are really proud of.

We would like to thank Michael Brookens for coaching us, Mr Antoniou and Mr Zach for organising the teams, and all the parents who supported us and came along on the day.

Running Club

Running club ran for 25 weeks this year with an average attendance of 64 per week.

That's approximately 1600 students! What a great way to start a day.

Some of our House Captains played a crucial role each week in warming up, supporting younger students, running activities and bringing general excitement.

What a great example of leadership and agency.

Thanks to Mr Perrin and Miss Callanan for assisting and holding the fort when I wasn't there. We look forward to the 2026 version.
