LOTE

Level 3 – Animals and Numbers
Level 3 students have been expanding their Chinese vocabulary by learning the names of various animals, including the giant panda (dà xióng māo大熊猫), and native Australian animals such as kangaroo (dài shǔ 袋鼠) and koala (kǎo lā 考拉).
We have also started learning numbers 11-19 in Chinese. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and growing confidence as they develop their speaking and language skills.
Level 4 – Daily routines and leisure activities
Level 4 students have been developing their language skills by learning to talk about daily routines, leisure activities, and sports. Using their new vocabulary, they created their own weekly schedules in Chinese, demonstrating growing confidence and creativity as they apply the language to real-life situations.
Level 5 – Countries
Level 5 students have been learning countries’ names in Chinese.
We have learned the Chinese names of Australia (ào dà lì yà 澳大利亚) and China (zhōng guó 中国). Inspired by their curiosity, they also researched the Chinese names of countries they are particularly interested in.
This activity has sparked enthusiasm for language learning and helped broaden their cultural and global awareness.
Level 6 – Planning a trip to China
Level 6 students have been planning an exciting trip to China as part of their travel unit. Throughout the year, they have learned essential travel vocabulary and phrases, including how to express where they want to go and how to order food and drinks in Chinese. For their final project, students researched flights between Melbourne and China, along with accommodation options, food and drinks, souvenirs, and activities to enjoy during their visit.
This project has been a wonderful opportunity for Level 6 students to bring together their language learning and apply it to a real-world travel planning experience.
