Sacrament of First Eucharist
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the young members of our SMCM school community who have received the Holy Eucharist for the first time. This sacred milestone marks a significant step in their faith journey, drawing them closer to Christ and to our Church community. Thank you to Father Tien, so coming back to our Parish to led us in our celebrations!
Receiving the Eucharist is a profound encounter with Jesus, who offers Himself as
the Bread of Life. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches, "The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life" (CCC 1324). Through this sacrament, our candidates have experienced the Real Presence of Christ, nourishing their souls and strengthening their bond with the Church.
As our First Communicants continue their spiritual journey, let us keep them in our prayers. May they always cherish the gift of the Eucharist and grow in their love for Jesus Christ. May this sacrament inspire them to live lives of compassion, service, and unwavering faith.
Once again, congratulations to all our First Holy Communion candidates. May the peace of Christ be with you always.
Pentecost
“And when the day of Pentecost had come, [the first followers of Jesus] were all together in one place” (2:1). All of a sudden, a sound came from heaven, like a strong wind, filling the house where the people had gathered. Something like tongues of fire rested on their heads. “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak” (2:4).
LastSunday was Pentecost Sunday. Pentecost is believed to be the oldest feast in the Church. It is the day on which the church was started; in other words, Pentecost is the church’s birthday.
After Jesus rose from the dead, He spent 40 days with His disciples, teaching them about God's Kingdom. They didn't fully understand His mission or their own roles at that time. But when the Holy Spirit came upon them, they realized their mission—and ours—is to spread God's Kingdom on earth through the Church.
We are all instruments of God, and He is with us in all His forms:
- God the Father watches over us.
- God the Son walks beside us.
- God the Holy Spirit lives within us.
It has been truly wonderful to see our Foundation students engage with the story of Pentecost, learning about the Holy Spirit's arrival as tongues of flame. To celebrate this significant event in our Church's history, the students joyfully commemorated the day with a 'Party for Jesus,' singing along to the song 'Hearts of Fire.'
