Clayfield Shines at QGSSSA Cross Country Championships

In a display of grit, discipline, and belief, the 2025 QGSSSA Cross Country team delivered one of its strongest showings yet at the annual QGSSSA Cross Country Championships.

With athletes toeing the line, the team’s preparation paid off with 24 competitors achieving their pre-championship race goal time, many by considerable margins. The result was a testament to weeks of focused training, race execution, and the undeniable Clayfield College spirit that surged from start to finish.

A standout performance came from Grace Hunter, who stormed home to take victory in the 12 Years race. In a commanding run, Grace surged ahead in the second half to break the tape 26 seconds clear of her nearest rival one of the most dominant wins of the day.

From first-time competitors to seasoned runners chasing PBs, the team’s energy was electric, and the results reflected a program built on consistency, courage, and collective belief.

QGSSSA Reconciliation Round Autumn Fixtures Finale

This Friday marks more than just the final round of the 2025 QGSSSA Autumn Fixtures, as we proudly participate in the QGSSSA Reconciliation Round, against Brisbane Girls Grammar School. In a powerful symbol of solidarity, our Senior teams will take to the field in the P&F sponsored Reconciliation uniforms, wearing with pride a design that honours the stories, culture, and connection to Country.

Throughout this Autumn season, our Basketball, Football, and Touch Football teams have shown unwavering grit, passion, and pride. From early morning trainings to fiercely contested Friday fixtures, our athletes have risen to every challenge. The season has been defined not only by the scores on the board but by the growth, and camaraderie that has been forged across all programs.

To every athlete who wore the Clayfield colours this season, we thank you. Your commitment and sportsmanship have left a lasting impression. To our coaches, your guidance and belief in every player has been instrumental in shaping competitive teams.

To the families, friends, and supporters on the sidelines your energy and encouragement have made a difference. Thank you for walking this season with us.

As we close the Autumn season with a spirit of reconciliation and respect, we look forward with gratitude for the lessons learned, the memories made, and the community that makes it all possible.

Metropolitan North Cross Country Trials

Congratulations to all students who represented the college at the 2025 Metropolitan North Cross Country Trials. Regardless of results, every student who competed demonstrated courage, determination, and a commitment to their training. Cross country is not an easy sport, and the dedication shown throughout the season, from early morning sessions to the final push across the finish line, is something to be truly proud of.

Andrews Cup Netball – Toowoomba Triumphs and Tenacity

It was an early departure for our Andrews Cup Netball teams as they travelled to the Nell E. Robinson Netball Courts in Toowoomba, but the energy and determination on display more than made up for the pre-dawn wake-up. Across all grades, our Clayfield teams demonstrated exceptional netball IQ, cohesive teamwork, and unwavering commitment.

In the D Grade competition, our team impressed with sharp passing and disciplined defence, securing a semifinal win to progress to the 5th and 6th playoff. In a tightly contested match, the girls gave their all but narrowly missed out, finishing in a commendable 6th place.

The C Grade side had a standout day, reflecting the results of their dedicated training. After progressing to the 7th and 8th playoff, the team jumped to an early 3–1 lead. Their opponents fought back in the second half, and the game ended in a thrilling draw securing the C Grade girls an equal 7th place finish.

Our A Grade players faced tough opposition in their pool and, despite just missing out on finals, delivered consistent performances all day. Their growth as a team and as individual players was evident with every intercept, pass, and shot on goal testament to their dedication at training.

A special highlight of the carnival was the performance of our Year 4 team in the Junior B (Social) Division. For many of these girls, this was their debut season, yet they showed incredible progress across each game. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and energy were contagious. The future is bright for these young netballers.

Clayfield Boys battle hard at CBSQ Wildcard Tournament

Last week, Clayfield’s boys’ basketball squad hit the hardwood at the Molten CBSQ Wildcard Tournament, hosted at Northside Wizards, with one goal in mind, secure a spot at the prestigious CBSQ Championships later this year.

Across two high-intensity days, the boys brought hustle, heart, and hunger to every possession. From ball movement to physical defensive sets, the team showcased how far the Clayfield basketball program has come in such a short time.

While they narrowly missed progression this year, the opportunity to compete at this level was not lost on the group. Every minute on the floor was a chance to learn, grow, and sharpen their game against quality opposition.

A huge thank you goes to our dedicated coaching staff, Mitch Hayward, Brodie Meis, and Brooke White whose energy and belief in the program continue to set the tone. Their commitment to building Clayfield’s boys basketball culture is undeniable and deeply appreciated.
