Year 7 2026 Experience Day
We are excited to welcome our 2026 Clayfield Sevens to the Clayfield Experience Day on Monday 16 June (for Year 6 students only). A full day of fun, engaging, and interactive Secondary School experiences has been planned to give students a taste of life at Clayfield College.
Illness
As we head into our Winter Season, please be mindful of our community. If your child is unwell, please do not send them to school until their infection is completely cleared. We understand at times, there can be a residual cough or croaky throat, which is common.
Circular Drive Etiquette
During the Circular Drive pick- up process, the safety of our students and staff is critical and therefore we kindly ask you to review the following.
At the conclusion of the day, staff will bring students down to Circular Drive from 3:05pm (Prep to Year 2) and 3:15pm (Years 3 to 6). Pre-Prep students can be collected from their classroom between 2:30pm and 3:00pm. Students in Years 5 to 6 may be collected at Circular Drive if they have younger siblings. Otherwise, they may be collected from Bayview Terrace. Students in Year 4 may be collected from Bayview Terrace if they have an older sibling. If you are collecting your child in Years 3 to 6, please do not come to Circular Drive before 3:15pm as they will not be there, and you will be asked to circle the block to keep the line moving.
To assist us with the efficiency of Circular Drive pickup in the afternoon, we respectfully request the following:
- Follow the direction of staff
- Continue to drive forward to the furthest available park
- Remain in your car until your child has been sent to you. Do not leave your car at any time whilst you are in the Circular Car Line. There have been instances where cars have rolled whilst children are walking to their cars.
- If you are using this service, students must be independent in buckling their seat belts, without your assistance. The staff on duty will help any child into the car if needed. If you are eager for your child to use this facility, the buckling of the seat belt is a wonderful teaching moment.
- If your child has not yet arrived for collection, you must drive around the block to re-enter the Circular Drive queue.
Sun Safety
At Clayfield College we have a clear No Hat No Play Policy. Could you please make sure your child has a hat at school every day. For hygiene practices, we do not provide hats for students to share.

Year 6 Noosa Northshore Camp Reminders
We are looking forward to the rescheduled Year 6 Outdoor Education Camp next Monday to Wednesday. As it is a lot colder than when we had originally planned to go, it is extremely important the students have a warm sleeping bag and a sleeping roll mat. It is also recommended that students have warm trackpants and a jumper for the evenings and another zip through jacket for the day activities. Water activities are still going ahead, so togs and rash shirts are still required.
If you have any questions or queries, please don't hesitate to reach out to your class teacher.
Peter Helliar Author Visit
We are looking forward to hosting Peter Helliar at the College, on Thursday 12 June. He will be talking to Years 3 to 6 students about his new adventure novel and give some tips about writing fiction. We are looking forward to an entertaining presentation. Please see some details below about how you can get hold of a copy his new book. He will be available to sign students’ copies.

Year 2 Visitors from The Clayfield Retirement Village
Recently, Year 2 students enjoyed a visit from residents of The Clayfield Retirement Village, marking a special moment in our HASS and Service-Learning journey. Earlier in the term, students wrote letters to the residents, sharing stories, drawings, and asking questions. The joy was mutual when the residents responded with heartfelt letters of their own, fostering a meaningful connection across generations.
The experience culminated in an in-person visit, where students eagerly met some of their pen pals. The room was filled with excitement as children and seniors exchanged stories and smiles. For many students, this was their first opportunity to engage closely with older adults outside their families, offering a unique perspective on life experiences.
This initiative exemplifies the power of connection and the importance of bridging generational gaps. By fostering relationships between young students and older adults, we create a community where learning and compassion thrive. We look forward to continuing and expanding these valuable connections in the future.
Piccolo Choir
The magic of storytelling captivated our Piccolo choir students at their rehearsal last Friday. Aunty Ruth Ghee, from the Zagreb clan of the Eastern Torres Strait Islands, came in to teach her song about sand crabs called Kerkeri Wed, which is sung in both the Meriam Mir language and in English.
With Mr D on his ukelele and some of our Senior students helping with the pronunciation of the tricky new words, everyone was soon singing and dancing to the delightfully catchy tune. The students are preparing to do their first performance of Kerkeri Wed at our NAIDOC week assembly next term.
Care@Clayfield Student and Parent Sessions
As part of our Care@Clayfield pastoral care framework, students from Years 4 to 12 will be hearing from guest presenter Jonny Shannon on Wednesday 4 June. Jonny will be exploring key concepts relevant to today’s youth including mental health, resilience and safe choices. We are then hosting a parent session in the evening, the details of which are below.
Gibson House Fundraiser – Dress Like a Farmer Day
Coming up on Friday 6 June (Week 7) is the Gibson House Fundraiser, supporting the charity Farm Angels.
Students are invited to dress as farmers on the day. There will be a prize for the best dressed, and at lunchtime, Old Collegian Claire Harris will lead a fun session of bootscooting (line dancing).
We look forward to seeing everyone get involved and supporting a great cause!
