SLA

SLAs have had a very busy few weeks. We have captured two great events in the senior school to share.
Mini Vinnies
Here is what some of our students thought ~
Deon: Minnie Vinnies came to our school to teach us about the homeless and how they feel. They gave us some ideas about how we can help people in need and made us think about if we were homeless, what we could do.
Harlie: Minnie Vinnies came to our school to teach us about how we can help people in need and make a better world. I enjoyed how they got us involved by playing ‘would you rather’ and giving some ideas of how we can help the homeless.
Max: It was very nice to hear that they help people, homeless people and people in need. I learnt some facts about Mini Vinnies such as they began 170 years ago in France by an Italian man.
Sienna B: I thought it was very thoughtful that they came is and talked to us about how they can help. There could be people at our school that need their support. I didn't know that Mini Vinnies could help people get a home and help them get a job so that was something new for me.
Adam: I thought the presenters were very kind to give up their time to come and teach us about Vinnies, what they do and about the services they offer. I really enjoyed this presentation because I learnt something new. It helped realise how many people are struggling and how Vinnies can help them.
Samuel: I really enjoyed the presentation because we learnt through games. It made me realise that there are people out there who really need help with things like food, shelter, education and clothing. I never knew that Vinnies could help you very quickly and they can help give people shelter when they can be safe and warm.
Open Classroom
On Thursday 29th May, the SLAs had an “Open Classroom” and we invited families to come in and spend the morning in their children’s classroom. During the morning, we had a lot of great fun and engaged in fantastic learning by playing various mathematics games. Below are some photos from the day ~
