From the Year 2 Classroom

It's been a busy two weeks in Year 2.

We have had some chilly mornings, and it has been great to see so many students coming to school with jumpers and jackets on. Remember, to name jumpers, jackets and beanies in case they are lost. If your child has lost something, we have a lost property tub at the front office and in our learning area.

In Literacy we have been focussing on adverbs, especially adverbs that end in 'ly'! We have continued reading both fiction and non-fiction texts, noticing the differences and similarities. Asking questions has been our comprehension strategy this fortnight. The students have been wondering about what they are reading, before and during their reading.

In Maths we have continued working on doubling facts and near doubles. We have also been looking at addition and subtraction fact families, using numbers up to 100. We will spend the rest of this week on mental addition and subtraction strategies.

In Inquiry the students have chosen a country to learn more about and have been researching information about that country. They will be creating a digital poster to display their researched information.

In Religion we have been discussing Baptism and how we belong to lots of different 'communities'.

We are looking forward to our little break, with this long weekend. We hope you all enjoy your little break too.
