2026 Enrolments

Historically, the category for the MOST belated student enrolments is siblings....

Alvie PS is currently taking enrolments for 2026. Our planning for staff and support workers begins early in term 3 and is based on enrolment figures.

If you have a child who you wish to attend or know a family that wishes to attend in 2026, it is important to collect and return the necessary enrolment forms to the school ASAP.  In 2026 we will only be taking siblings or students within our designated zone. Please see the Find my School website to assess the Alvie PS school zone.

School costs

I think we’re all aware that there are a number of families struggling financially at the moment. Whether it’s farming families, redundancies at work, impact of the State budget-it doesn’t matter what the cause/circumstance is, what’s important to understand is that we are here and able to help. If this is your family circumstance, just reach out to the Administration/Wellbeing staff, and we will make the necessary arrangements to support you, and ensure your child/children don’t miss out on all the experiences that school has to offer.

We are also able to offer food/fresh fruit support to our families- please just be in touch. Just another part of being Team Alvie PS.

School and illness

Should Your Child Stay Home?

When your child is sick, it’s important to know when they should stay home from school. If they have a contagious disease, keep them home. This will help them get better faster and keep their teachers and classmates from getting sick.

When Your Child Is Too Sick.

As a rule, your child should not go to school if they have:

- A fever over 38° Celsius- Your child can return to school after they’ve been fever-free for 24 hours.

- Signs they are weak and tired. This is common with the flu.

- Diarrhea – Having loose poop (stool) more often that isn’t caused by a change in diet.

- Throwing up (vomiting)

 - Coughing that disrupts normal activity.

- Wheezing or get short of breath.

- Pain from earache, headache, sore throat, or recent injury.

- Yellow or green drainage from the eye(s).

-A new rash - Not all rashes mean your child must stay home from school. Check with their doctor or health care provider.

- Contagious Disease. Some contagious diseases include: COVID-19, Chickenpox, The flu, Conjunctivitis, Strep throat, A cold, Measles, Whooping cough

Good hand washing will help prevent the spread of germs. Teach your child to wash their hands often, especially after using the bathroom and before eating.

Headlice

Head lice (also known as pediculosis capitis) are transmitted by having head-to-head contact with someone who has head lice. This happens frequently in families, schools and childcare centres. It is therefore vital to check your student and treat if necessary. Although head lice do not carry or transmit disease, they can become a real nuisance because they are easily passed on from person to person. Head lice feed on blood from the scalp and can leave small scabs on the head. These scabs become itchy and continual scratching can lead to infection and skin problems. Left untreated the condition is very uncomfortable and irritating.
