Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

STUDENT REPORTS AND PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Teachers and students have been working very hard over the past few weeks completing assessment and reporting tasks. Our Pupil Free Day tomorrow is to ensure that reports are written and completed ready for proof reading and editing. The reports will be available on Compass on Thursday 3rd July 2025. Parent Teacher Interviews will be in the third week of Term 3. Please ensure that you book your Interview time through compass when bookings open but if you have any issues please contact the school office.

Parent Teacher Interviews will be held Monday 4th to Wednesday 6th August 2025 from 3.30pm-5pm. NB: Year 3-4 interviews will commence earlier for those families who can access that time.

STUDENT TEACHERS FROM CANADA

Next week we welcome two 3rd year student teachers from Canada to Warrnambool Primary School. Sarah Louth and Kirsten McKay are spending a month in Australia as part of a study tour. Both student teachers will no doubt enjoy their experience across a range of years at our great school.

STAFFING NEWS

Mrs Donna Dixon is on leave for the remainder of Term 2 and all of Term 3 - 2025. We wish Donna all the best. We are very fortunate to welcome Ms Bebe Ryan back to Warrnambool Primary School who will be teaching Art during this time.

FOUNDATION A - OCEANS OF FUN

This term, our Foundation students have dived deep into the wonders of the ocean.

As part of their learning, the children explored the vibrant world of coral reefs — one of nature’s most colorful and important ecosystems.

But the fun didn’t stop at just learning! Our creative young students rolled up their sleeves and made their very own coral reefs using art, craft materials, and lots of imagination.

It was inspiring to see their enthusiasm as they brought the reef to life!

GARDEN TO PLATE - LEARNING KNIFE SAFETY AND DECOMPOSABLE PAPER CUPS

Our Year 3B students have been having hands-on experience focusing on two important skills: knife safety and planting seeds!

First, students practiced using knifes safely. Everyone learned how to keep their fingers safe and cut with confidence, making the kitchen a fun and secure place to explore cooking.

Next, the class got their hands dirty planting seeds! Using decomposable newspaper pots, the children carefully planted seeds that will soon grow into fresh vegetables for our garden. These eco-friendly pots will break down naturally, helping our garden thrive sustainably.

It was wonderful to see our students connecting with where their food comes from, from seed to plate, and learning valuable kitchen skills along the way!

PAJAMA DAY - WRAP UP

What a cozy and cheerful day we had at school for Pajama Day! Our students came dressed in their comfiest pajamas, ready to relax and have a great time together. From fuzzy slippers to colorful onesies, and oodles of oodies, the classrooms were full of smiles and comfy vibes.

Thank you to all the families for helping make PJ Day a huge success. Don’t forget to check out the photos below.

COTTAGE BY THE SEA

Written by Amelia Stutchbury and Scarlett McKinnon 6B

The journey to CBTS was good but long. Some people had cat naps and others chitter chattered. Everyone was so excited that we forgot to get our luggage out of the trailor. We went up the stairs as fast as we could tripping over everyone, while our luggage weighed us down. There was lots of rushing and commotion while everyone tried to get with their friends. The staff came up to tell us the rules but realised they had to wait a second for us kids to calm down and go down stairs. Once the rules were explained everyone was fidgiting ready to play! After we played we all lined up near the kitchen to smell the faint aroma of spaghetti bolognese. We had dinner and dessert, then got ready for bed and a movie.

Over the next couple of days there were a ton of fun activities including going on a boat, fishing, learning about oceans, going on an obstacle course etc. On the last day everyone was ready to go home, energy drained out of them, they were excited to see their parents/guardians. The journey home was less exciting than on the way there. Lots of people sleeping and chatting. Once we got to school everyone was ready to go to sleep, and searching for their parents/guardians. We were all suprised to see a gift for us all....a bag fill of amazing stuff!!!

We all enjoyed our 5 day camp! 10/10 definitely recommend!

LIONS CLUB EYESIGHT TESTING

Several Lions Club members will complete sight testing on selected students- those who have returned their consent forms. The testing covers visual accuracy, colour vision, depth perception and the spot screener covered myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, anisometropia, binocular vision and anisocoria. Parents will receive a letter providing the results. Testing may pick up a few students who become recommended for some further assessment. If you have concerns about your child’s sight this is free and it would be worth following up for an appointment. Screenings will occur on Friday 27th June 2025. It is not too late to submit your forms which were sent home last month.
