From the Principal Class Team

Dear MRC Community,

The last few weeks of Term 2 have seen staff and students working together to finalise end of Term assessments, Learning Tasks and mid-year examinations. All semester reports along with GPA have now been published. These can be accessed via Compass. Please take the time to read these with your child and celebrate their successes.

General Achievement Test

Students completing a Unit 3 & 4 VCE or VCE VM study have now completed the General Achievement Test (GAT). The GAT provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their literacy and numeracy skills which will be required to move on to further study, training or employment.

On Tuesday 17th June Students who are completing a Unit 3 & 4 VCE or VCE VM study undertook the annual General Achievement Test (GAT). The GAT now is undertaken as two examinations, a Part A and a Part B. The GAT Part A provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their literacy and numeracy skills, whereas, the GAT Part B is a general achievement test where the results are used in the end of year examinations as a support method to ensure accurate and fair assessment of students and for the use of a Derived Examination score, if required.

Year 12 Formal

On Thursday 26th June, our Year 12 students attended Lakeside Banquet and Convention Centre to celebrate their formal. This milestone event was an opportunity for students to dress up and celebrate the completion of Unit 3 and semester 1. The celebrations of this evening mark the preparation for Unit 4 and the final end of year VCAA examinations. Students had a fantastic time relaxing and celebrating this milestone in preparation for the push for second semester and Unit 4.

Parent Teacher interviews

The VCE/VET/VCE VM Parent Teacher interviews took place last week, on Thursday 3rd July. As always, this provided students, parents and staff the opportunity to reflect on performance throughout the semester and to reset goals and strategies to achieve further success.

Additionally, during this Parent Teacher interviews, the College continued the new approach suggested by the student leadership, where time was provided to students to have a one-on-one feedback session with their teacher. This approach was extremely well received in it’s second implementation, providing students and staff an opportunity to provide and receive feedback in preparation for Unit 2 and 4.
