Year 4 News

From the 4B cohort
Hello NMPS Community,
Here is what the Year 4s have been up to!
SHAPES AND ANGLES
By Zane, Ellie, Amelia, Sebastian, Thibault and Minh
What does the B in 4B stand for? Best (at maths). Today you are going to read a little snippet of what we are doing in maths.
Angles Hunt
We got a Seesaw task about an angles hunt. We went outside and took pictures of acute, obtuse, straight, reflex, right and revolution (full turn) angles.
3D Shapes Riddle
We also received sheets with 3D shapes riddles that we had to solve. Then when we finished we could write our own.
Can you solve this riddle?
I am a 3D shape.
I have 9 vertices.
I have 9 faces.
8 of my faces are triangles.
What am I?
Fun Fact: Did you know that you are a 3D shape?
If you want to learn about 3D solids then educate yourself! Look outside! What 3D solids can you see?
CELEBRATIONS
By Azraf, Lenny, Oliver, Kaan, and Andre
Has anyone come to your class to explain about the country they come from? Countries like Germany, Brazil, France or Bangladesh? And have they talked about their culture, language, and history? Taking notes on countries is really fun.
Here are some facts about our countries and cultures.
Germany
When children go to school in Germany they get snacks and prizes in cones on the first day.
Brazil
Brazil has won 5 world cups!
Bangladesh
Bangladesh is full of tropical forests and swamps.
France
Originally the Eiffel Tower was an exhibition.
Judaism
There is a traditional Jewish bread called challah, it tastes sweet!
Thank you to all the parents who have come in to visit 4B so far. If you want to come in and share about your culture, please get in touch with Ava!
Fellow NMPS students, what countries have you learned about in your class?
INFERENCES
By Nico, Hayley, Olivia, Giselle, Frankie and Vivi
As we entered through the door, we saw some white, floury footprints leading to our classroom door. Wondering what was in store for us,we cautiously entered through the door thinking,”Has Ava set this up or is this a REAL MYSTERY?”.
Ava called us to sit on the floor, then she started to call all of us detectives. We followed the footprints all across the room until we got to the yellow cupboard next to Matilda’s room. Inside the cupboard we found our missing toys. We used our inferencing skills to come up with ideas about what happened and who could have done it by writing a mystery and solving the crime.
Do you have an idea about who did it?
PERSUASIVES
By Issy, Yeda, Mateo, Aza, Anand and Aidan
Do you ever feel like Book Creator is too boring and basic? Do you ever think how Book Creator only gives you access to some materials?
In 4B we have been using Canva to publish our persuasive pieces. We used animations, pictures, elements, magic media, graphs, different fonts and templates to make our presentations look more colourful. The animations made our writing more engaging for the person seeing it. The photos and pictures were good visuals for our writing.
Next time you use Canva, try to make something new about what you’re interested about!
Thanks for reading!
