Dear Skye Primary School Families,
Welcome to our first newsletter of the new year! I'm thrilled to see the vibrant energy that our students have started with each morning. It's been fantastic to say gday to many of you in the schoolyard and observe the strong sense of community we have at the school.
We're eagerly anticipating next Tuesday's community event, our annual Meet The Teacher and Twilight Sports evening. This event promises to be a fantastic opportunity for parents to engage with our teaching staff and participate in the Skye PS Family Amazing Race. The afternoon will kick off with a creative session in the classrooms, where students will scrapbook their Reader's and Writer's Notebooks, and culminate in seven fun-filled activities around the school. It's a perfect chance for our school community to come together and enjoy an evening of fun, learning, and physical activity.
Please remember that next Friday, 16th February, is a pupil-free day. Our staff will be engaged in the first of four Berry St Education Model training sessions planned for 2024/2025. This important professional development is centred around trauma-informed positive education practices, ensuring our team is equipped with the latest strategies to support our students' wellbeing and academic growth.
We are delighted to announce the return of our beloved Kitchen Garden program. It's a pleasure to welcome Inger Furlong back to our team, and our Year 3 - 6 students have already embarked on their culinary and gardening adventures. From cooking delicious pancakes to tending our garden, we look forward to sharing more updates and inspiring our budding mini Masterchefs.
This year, we're proud to offer our most extensive range of lunchtime clubs yet. Our diverse program includes a variety of extra-curricular activities, providing students with ample opportunities to explore their interests and talents during lunch breaks.
A gentle reminder of our Mobile Phone Policy: students are permitted to bring mobile phones and wearables (this includes any smartwatch) to school, but they must be turned off and stored securely at the front office during school hours. In case of emergencies, parents can contact their children through the school's administration office.
Our school is committed to respecting the privacy of our students and parents. We adhere to the Schools’ Privacy Policy and the Schools’ Privacy Collection Notice for the collection and use of personal information. Please review our policies on photographing, filming, and recording students, as well as our guidelines for safely using [Google Workspace for Education]. Should you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact the school.
We're pleased to announce that the upgrade of our Senior Toilets is nearing completion and will be available for use next week. Once open, work will then begin on the refurbishment of the Junior Toilets.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement.
Here's to a fantastic year ahead at Skye Primary School!
