Connect: Year 3

February 2024

Welcome to 2024 in Grade Three!

We are so excited to spend the upcoming year with your children. The first fortnight went so smoothly and the students have already hit the ground running with some exciting learning!

Our Connect will be a place to keep up to date with what is happening in our classrooms, year level specific events and some updates on student work!

If at any time you have questions, please feel free to reach out to us via email or phone and we are more than happy to assist you.

Meet the team!

This year we have two straight Grade Three grades and a composite 3/4 grade - updates for the composite can be found on the Grade Four page.

What's happening in the classrooms?

Literacy: We have started the year by understanding how to choose books for our own learning. We have used 'iPick' bookmarks which help the students best determine what type of text suits them. We have already done some brainstorming, writing and spelling too! We start to delve into 'Fire' by Jackie French over the next couple of weeks and will focus on making connections.

Numeracy: In the first week, we looked at 'what makes a great mathematician'. We discussed that anyone and everyone is a mathematician! We played games such as evil eleven, worked out some esti-mysteries and played partner games. Over the next fortnight we will look at Place Value - with the concept of 'odd and even' being the main focus.

Wellbeing: We have been busy setting up routines and expectations within the classroom. We have come together to make agreements about what we expect each other to do as well as looking at the documents our whole school focuses on. Below you will find our behaviour expectations. We use these everyday, focus on them during our circle time AND the students can earn dojo points for displaying these behaviours.

A brilliant start to a brilliant year!

Throughout the first fortnight of school, the students have worked on a variety of activities. See some cool photos of what we have all been up to!
