Connect: Year 2

Welcome to Grade 2! We are so excited to start 2024 with you all!

Meet the Grade Two teachers!

Introduction: 

So far the start of the year has been filled with a number of fun ‘Getting to Know You’ and Team Building activities. We began our All About Me portraits and created birthday and other class displays. We have  unpacked our School Wide Positive Behaviour framework and Expected Behaviours while in the classroom and moving around the school. 

Upcoming Learning:

In the next fortnight of Literacy learning,  we will begin our work with the language features and purpose of poetry and nursery rhymes. We will be exploring how to generate ideas for our writing in our Writers' Notebooks. 

In Numeracy, we will investigate  months and days of the year through the exploration of calendars. We will also explore recognising, describing and creating number patterns through looking at various images of patterns in the world around us  and through games. We will also be starting our open-ended problem-solving tasks. 

In Inquiry, we will be introducing our Term 1 Topic: Growing Older & Wiser. This topic explores the concept of identity and encourages students to take responsible risks and monitor their own thinking (known as metacognition).

Reminders: 

• Term One and Term Four students are required to wear hats during play time. We also recommend sunscreen as hats do not cover arms or legs.
• Tuesday the 13th of February- Meet the Teacher Twilight Sports afternoon.
• We have loved getting to meet many of you over the past two weeks. Just a reminder that our mornings are very busy preparing for the day of learning so if you do require a chat please email us to schedule a time.
