Reading
CURRICULUM FOCUS
We are learning to ask different types of questions.
VOCABULARY
Right there questions
Answers are right there in front of you.
Think and search questions
Answers are gathered from several parts of the text and put together to make meaning.
Author and Me questions
Questions are based on information provided in the text but the student is required to relate it to their own experience. Although the answer does not lie directly in the text, the student must have read it in order to answer the question.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Ask students to read a text from their blue satchels or another text from home. As they read either verbally create questions and discuss the type of question it is or record them in homework books and identify the type of questions they are creating.
