Tutor Enrichment Program

Kalliopi Tsavaris - EPS Tutor Enrichment Program Coordinator & Teacher

Thanks to the support of the EPS community, this year we have further expanded the Tutor Learning Initiative (TLI) to create a comprehensive Tutor Enrichment Program (TEP) at EPS.

We have employed two additional tutors to work across a range of cohorts to support students in literacy and numeracy.

While tutors will focus on the following cohorts in term 1, the school will review this term by term, to ensure all year levels receive support as indicated by learning growth.

  • Kalliopi Tsavaris will work with Year 3 and 5 students in numeracy support and enrichment  and reading support through small withdrawal groups and also coordinate the Tutor program.
  • Sharon Meeking will work with Year 3 students in writing support through small withdrawal groups.
  • Brian Norris will work with Year 5 students in numeracy enrichment and writing support through small withdrawal groups in Term 1.
  • Natalie Bowerman continues to support literacy growth in the junior school, currently working with Year 1 and 2 students.
  • Libby Kurc will work to support reading in Year 3 and will meet with all Year 3 students to conference and set reading goals.

We hope to be able to further expand the program, but will determine the viability of this as we move forward.

A little background on the TLI

The Tutor Learning Initiative, (TLI), was introduced by the Department of Education and Training (DET) in 2021 to enable schools to employ additional educators for the purpose of intervention and extension following at-home learning during the COVID 19 lockdown periods in 2020 and 2021.

At EPS we have valued this opportunity to provide further learning support to our students and this is why the goal to raise funds to continue and expand the tutor program was formed.

The EPS program will include a range of support measures including 1:1 tutoring, small group withdrawal work and additional educators working with students in the classroom. This range of intervention strategies will complement the classroom environment by allowing classroom teachers to spend more time with other students and work with smaller groups.

Thank you again, for responding to our request for support; together we can make a difference.
