It has been a rather hot start to the term and like everyone, students and staff have been feeling it, that is for sure.
Weekend Activities
Last weekend we had a trip to Mandurah where students used the new foreshore swimming facilities and from all reports it was enjoyed by all. On the way back to the College students stopped in to the Mandurah Forum before returning to site mid-afternoon.
Dinner that night was a BBQ and salads which was cooked by a couple of the students, while some of the girls set the dining room as a long table dinner by dressing the table with tablecloths and background music.
On Sunday some students went to Bunbury to watch a movie before returning for the afternoon.
Basketball
Monday evening saw the town basketball players head off for their game resulting in mixed results across the board.
On Wednesday evening, we had another game of interdorm basketball in the College gym. The game was held in great spirits with fantastic support from a large crowd of spectators.
Dorm Issues
We have been experiencing a spate of “Bed Flipping” which the boys find funny. We have over the years had several laptops and mobile phones damaged in these actions and as a result this is widely condemned by the College. As a result of the damage, several families have needed to make restitution for these damages resulting in hefty bills. Please speak with your child and support us on this as I would not like to have someone in this situation again.
Motor Vehicles
Just a reminder to student drivers that vehicles are to be parked in your designated parking bay only. They are to be reversed in, so at peak time of departure all students are driving out forwards. All vehicles are to be locked and there is no access to vehicles without permission from staff. All keys are to be handed into staff upon arrival at the school, failure to follow these simple standards can and will result in the loss of the privilege to drive to school.
Busselton Camp
This weekend is our annual Busselton Camp, it is loads of fun and a great way to get to know each other in a less formal environment. I must thank Sally and Rob for undertaking the majority of the organising for the weekend.
Just a quick reminder to all the students attending that College rules apply whilst at camp and any serious indiscretions may result in parents being contacted to collect their child from the campsite in Busselton.
Weekend Leave
Can I please ask that if your child's return time changes at the weekend or there is a change to transport or anything else, that you contact the College on one of our Residential mobile phones or alternatively ring the landline and follow the prompts to be forwarded to a staff member on duty. We ask that you go through this channel first.
As a last resort if you email please use the harvey.residence@education.wa.edu.au as other emails are not monitored at all times. This weekend as an example, there will be no monitoring of Residential email as we will be away. Thanks very much.
