Principal's News

All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

Good afternoon families,

It has been so lovely to be back at school and seeing so many smiling and happy faces.

Thank you for the kind words and waves from parents in cars on Monday. It made me feel so proud to belong to this amazing community.

Thank you to Jade ( Yr 1 parent ) and her wonderful team of Yr 1 parents who helped welcomed our new prep families with a lovely morning tea in the garden last Thursday.

Mrs Sarah Talbot ( Learning Diversity Leader) is on Long Service Leave for Term 1. Mrs Tanya Stefanec and myself will be taking over the role for Term 1. If you have any queries or need to reach out please email Tanya on tstefanec@stlouisaspendale.com

Parents and Friends Association.

On Tuesday night we had our first Parents and Friends gathering. It was wonderful to see so many new faces and to hear so many new ideas for fundraising and social events.

A new structure was discussed and agreed upon to trial. Our aim is to have a level representative who would form part of the core leadership team and a class representative who would be guided by the level representative. The main role of the level rep would be to coordinate one fund raising event for the year which is clarified at a PFA meeting. The role of the class representative would be to establish a connection with all the families in the class and maybe organise informal social gatherings, support the class teacher as required (one possibility could be coordinating the purchase of a gift for the teacher's birthday) and work with the level representative to gather parent support in to organise and implement the designated event for the level.

We recognise that many of our families are time poor and therefore we have decided to not schedule regular meetings but a meeting can be called for all class level representatives to attend if we believe there is a need. Our initial meeting on Tuesday 5 March, will be to brainstorm the activities for the year and all members of the community are welcome. Once the activities/events have been agreed upon, we can allocate an activity/ event to a level. We envisage that moving forward if a meeting is required for the finer details this can be organised at an agreed time and venue by the level.

If you are interested in being a class and or level rep can you please email me at cstutterd@stlouisaspendale.com or complete the following google form  on this link

Next Friday 16 February we are having our welcome picnic on the oval from 3.30-5.30pm.  We will have music and games and it is a great chance for families to catch up and enjoy the afternoon together.  There will be sausages, drinks and Zooper Doopers available to be purchased or BYO picnic.  Come and join us we look forward to seeing you then.

Ash Wednesday and Lent 2024

Wednesday 14 February is Ash Wednesday. This is the start of Lent. The students in Years 3-6 will attend the parish mass at 12 pm. The students in Years 1-2 will have a classroom liturgy.

Lent, is 40 days of penitential preparation for Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday six and a half weeks before Easter, and provides a 40-day period for fasting and abstinence.

Before and After School Use of the Playground Equipment

Just a friendly reminder that the playground equipment is out of bounds both before and after school for our students. Unfortunately this is due to our inability to supervise during these times and for insurance purposes. We also ask that students do not enter the gates until a staff member is there to either open them or usher the children in. This will be at 8.30am.

Enjoy your weekend
