YEAR 10 FAMILIES

WEEK 2: KEY INFORMATION

WEEK 2: KEY INFORMATION:

GREAT FIRST WEEK!

Week 1 was very pleasing from my position as the Head of Year 10.  The cohort looked well presented in their new senior uniforms and eager to kick off their final year of compulsory schooling.

YEAR OF OPPORTUNITIES & CHOICES:

At Community PG last week, I explained that Year 10 was a year of opportunity and choices.  Those students who were prepared to put in the required effort and ‘lean into the discomfort’ would be in the best position come the end of the year when future pathways and subject selections need to be discussed.

INCREASED EXPECTATIONS

We also discussed the increased expectation that is associated with wearing the senior uniform.  In particular, we discussed high behaviour expectations and modelling effective leadership to the juniors.  I was excited to hear that this message was received when I was told that a group of Year 10 students went out of their way to welcome the new Year 7s  into their lunchtime games of basketball.

VACCINATIONS:

Students should have received their Meningococcal Vaccination Envelopes.  Please ensure they are returned to PG Mentors by Tuesday, 30 January.

REMINDERS:

ACADEMIC ASSEMBLY

Date: Tuesday, 30 January

Uniform: Formal

Time: 9:40 am

Location: Hugh O'Brian Centre (HOB)

Audience: All parents/carers are welcome to attend.

Purpose: To acknowledge students' achievements from Term 4, 2023.

If Year 10 students have HPE or Sport later that day, they will need to bring either their sport or house uniform.

STUDENT DIARIES

Students are required to use their diaries to record homework, assessment and essential communication between home and school. This is an excellent location for parent notes regarding homework difficulties, change of uniform, lateness or early departure from school. We ask you to please communicate these notes in the College diary.

MOBILE PHONE POLICY

Mobile phones can only be accessed in the first ten minutes of each break, at student's locker. Phones are then locked away for the remainder of the school day. If students wish to purchase food from the Tuckshop, they will need to use either cash or their physical debit card.
