Boarding News

Our first week in boarding has been very busy getting everyone settled into their new home.

As we come to the end of our first week, and welcome a long weekend, we are seeing signs of homesickness.  This is very common for the first few weeks away from home. Please always stay optimistic and positive about boarding with your child and always tell them how proud you are of them with their ability to cope in their new environment away from their loved ones and home.  If your child continues to struggle, please encourage them to approach staff.  We have an amazing pastoral care team at school and in boarding, who are here to support them in their new journey.

Co-curricular Activities

Sport and cultural schedules have been released via the College App throughout the week.  We will be in the full swing of QGSSSA training, music practice and rehearsals next week.

Homework

Formal Prep will commence on Sunday evening after dinner.  Prep runs Sunday through Thursday evenings from Week 2 each term. Hours of Prep are:

Years 7 and 8

6:30pm to 7:30pm

Year 9

6:30pm to 7:45pm

Year 10

6:30pm to 8:30pm

Years 11 and 12

6:30pm to 9:00pm

(with optional extra time)

Students are also encouraged to attend tutorials at school run by teachers in the Learning Resource Centre (LRC).

Facebook

Our Boarding House has its own Facebook group.  This group is limited to boarding parents and carers, and past boarders which makes it a great place to showcase photos of our students at various activities.  If you would like to follow our Facebook group, go to https://www.facebook.com/groups/340245156378504.
