Student Representative Council

Last week our Student Representative Council (SRC) members were announced for 2024. Our SRC provides an opportunity for students to experience leadership at school, and to have an input into the development of the school. Children in each class from Year 1- 6 are elected by their peers for a 12-month term of office. Foundation class representatives will be elected later in the year.

Our SRC meets a few times per term. They discuss any items raised by the students of the whole school, as well as perform a range of fundraising and awareness activities for the school and charities. Students from the SRC will be presented with badges at our next whole school assembly on Monday 25th March at 9:15am in the gym.

2024 School Council

Following on from the call for nominations for our School Council I can confirm that we have successfully received 6 nominations from members of our school community. As the number of nominations is equal to the number of vacancies we can declare that all positions have now been filled successfully and we will not need to hold a ballot.

Reducing COVID-19 Transmission in Our School

There is at present an increase in community transmission of COVID-19 in Victoria.

You can help us keep our school as safe as possible by taking 2 important steps:

1. Ensure your COVID-19 vaccinations are up to date. Information on how and where to get vaccinated is available on the Get Vaccinated webpage.

2. If your child shows symptoms of COVID-19, please ensure they stay home and get tested. The easiest way to test is to use a rapid antigen test (RAT).

We no longer have RATs available at our school. You can buy RATs at supermarkets, pharmacies and other retailers.

If your child has symptoms but tests negative, please ensure they stay home until they no longer have symptoms.

If the RAT test result is positive, please ensure they stay home for at least 5 days and until there are no more symptoms.

Thank you for your support – these steps will help us all stay well.

Junior Sports Morning

NAPLAN Dates

Our Year 3 and Year 5 students will participate in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) on the following dates:

Wednesday 13th March - Writing

Thursday 14th March - Reading

Monday 18th March - Language Conventions

Wednesday 20th March - Numeracy

To support our students to do their best on these days, we will be providing the students with a special NAPLAN breakfast each morning. More details to come.

PLT Assemblies

Each year level will hold a PLT assembly during the term that parents are invited to attend. These year level assemblies are held in the gym and times will be confirmed next week via Compass notification. During these assemblies, students may share their learning, be presented with awards, and hear about important upcoming events.

Harmony Day – Monday 25th March

Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It is about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Clyde Primary School is celebrating Harmony Day on Monday 25th March. On this day students can wear either traditional clothing, or orange clothing, as orange is the chosen colour for Harmony Day.

On this day, students will participate in a range of activities to promote inclusiveness and belonging. This could include reading stories about families from different cultures, completing artwork to signify cultural diversity and participating in cultural games/sports.

On Wednesday 27th March, students will have the opportunity to participate in a Sri Lankan Dance Incursion. Details and costs for this incursion have been sent out through Compass.

Easter Celebrations

On the last day of term, we are having our annual Easter Bonnet Parade. Children are encouraged to start creating an Easter bonnet at home to wear on the day.

We invite parents to join us for the parade as the event will be held in the gym. We will also be drawing the winners of our Easter Raffle during the event.

Our Easter Raffle ticket booklets will be sent home on Monday 4th March for $1 per ticket.
