Principal's Report
Dear Parents & Guardians,
Last year at this time we were moving into the new building, there was no access to the hall, parking was an issue with tradesman everywhere and we had no basketball courts.
Thank goodness all of that is behind us and we were able to run a really successful normal third term.
I really enjoyed hearing songs, smiles and excited children in the lead up to our dance concert nights. Both nights were amazing and we had wonderful feedback from parents, students and staff!
A big thank you to everyone that helped out with the concert. The teachers did a really great job in preparing the students and the students did a great job being the stars!
Thank you so much to Ben Eaton and Ash Shanks that did a power of work to make sure the concert went well! Also a big thanks to Mary Menta, Sandy and Glenn for making sure that also had something to eat after the concert nights. We will try and make it bigger and better next year!
I was privileged enough to go on the Sovereign Hill camp. I really enjoy learning about history so Sovereign Hill is a great place for me to go to even though I have been there many times. The students had an amazing time while learning lots about the 1850’s. The students learnt that gold is found in quartz, I did notice some of the bags were pretty heavy so sorry if parents have some new rocks in their back garden!
A big thanks to Jess Wallace who did all the camp organising and all the teachers that went on camp. Camp is a 24hr per day job for the people that go on camp, and although we all love going on camp you do come back absolutely exhausted.
Special thanks to our wonderful parent helpers:
Vanessa Jackson
Dusty Van Eijk
Kim Jordan
Tania Hallett
Carol Keller
Ben Benson
& Dave Curnow (for one day)
I thank you all for taking the time to do something special for our beautiful children!
The grade five and six students have been focusing on a project called: “Journey to a Better Life”. This week they went to the immigration museum to consolidate the learning they have been doing.
I would like to congratulate all our Excellence Award winners this term. Our excellence awards go to the student the teachers’ judge as the best student for the term in terms of following the school’s values of High Expectations and Respect.
The winners receive a badge that has a different colour to represent how many times a student has won an award. Students will also be acknowledged with their photo and a blurb on why they have won the award in the office area for the following term.
Colour code:
White – First time winner
Green – Second time winner
Pink -– Third time winner
Yellow – Fourth time winner
Orange -– Fifth time winner
Blue – Sixth time winner
Congratulations to all our winners who have strived for excellence this term.

Well done to all these students for being ready to learn, attentive and basically brilliant! This is my favourite award in the school because it involves food!

Just a reminder that we finish at 2:30pm on the last day of term.
It is footy colours day on Friday, where the day is mostly about footy. We ask students to proudly wear their colours for the day. Students who don’t like football and barrack for a different code can wear the colour of their choice.
I hope you all have a safe and happy break! Thank you again for all the support you constantly give us. Our community has again been so positive about everything to do with the school this term, which is reflected in our staff survey, student survey and feedback I have been getting from parents.
Please make sure you look after yourself in the next few weeks and thank you again for all your support! I’m not sure who is going to win the grand final this year but I hope the Cats are winners for all the Cats supporters in the school. Although I have a soft spot for the Swans because Jess Howe is big Sydney supporter.
Congratulations to Phil and Lachlan Gardner for taking out the WYPS footy tipping competition. Lachlan won the students and award, and lucky Phil beat me by one tip! A fantastic family effort from the Gardener’s considering Tracey has also won the parent/staff tipping in the past. Don’t worry Gardener’s I’m definitely going to beat you next year. It will actually be easy, I’ll just pick Carlton each week and they will win every game!
Congratulations to our stalwart crossing supervisor Dawn. Twenty five years of service to our school and community in sunshine, rain, wind & hail, Dawn is always here to make sure our students make it safely across the road. Well done Dawn
If you don’t like football, I hope you get a chance to read over the break. I certainly will be!
