Acting Principal's Report
This week it has been fantastic to meet so many of our valued parent community!
On Monday, I spent the morning with some parents from our Chinese community, asking and answering questions about Box Hill North PSK. I have come away from those conversations with some great ideas about how we can strengthen communication in our multi-cultural community, to celebrate the various cultures within our school community.
On Wednesday evening I met with our Parents Association and learned all about the wonderful work they do to raise money for our school. I was most excited to hear that there is planning underway for Father’s Day and end of term sport-related celebrations!
I have also been thoroughly enjoying the 1:1 chats I’m having with parents as they pop in to introduce themselves, or stop for a chat at the school gates. Thank you to everyone who has gone to the effort of introducing yourselves!
One of the highlights of Week 4 has to be the time I spent in 56A for a Numeracy lesson. This session wasn’t only my favourite because I fluked winning my first ever game of Break the Bank, earning 500 house points for my yet-to-be-designated house team, but because I witnessed what seems to be one of our most mathematical minds at work, impressing the whole class and all adults in the room when she referred to 0.125 as one-eighth when the class was discussing decimal facts. Well done, Georgia M!
Our wonderful Shobhi, Education Support Leader, has decided to pursue the career that she studied for before building her beautiful family, which means she will be leaving Box Hill North PSK at the end of next week. We are sad to say goodbye to Shobhi, but very excited to see her excel in her next chapter. Thank you, Shobhi, for the kindness and confidence you have brought to our students, especially those who really needed your support. Thank you also for the team spirit you have shared with our staff – always lifting others up and working hard to improve student outcomes. We know you will be very successful in whatever you do and wish you all the very best for the future. Shobhi’s last day will be Thursday 14th August. Feel free to pop by school on Thursday after school to farewell our lovely Shobhi.
A reminder that next Friday 16th August is a Student-Free Day. Please make alternate supervision arrangements for your child/ren while staff work together on Professional Learning.
