Dear Parents/Carers,
Book Week
Book week provided an amazing opportunity to celebrate children’s literature last week with the sharing of favourite books, characters and authors. Thank you to Mrs James for organising the many activities and readings of the shortlisted books to our students across the school. The parade was sensational and allows us to bring literature to life. Reading really is magical!
Father’s Day
I’d like to wish all our dads a fantastic Father’s Day this Sunday. I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy quality time with your family and make the most of this special day. It’s often the small gestures that mean the most—a hand-drawn card, scrambled eggs on toast, or a heartfelt hug can truly make a difference. Enjoy your day!
Welcome Foundation 2025 Families
I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to our new Foundation 2025 students and their families to our vibrant school community. It was wonderful to meet everyone at last week’s get-to-know-you sessions, and we are eagerly anticipating the Prep Play sessions coming up in Term 4.
Witnessing the start of this exciting journey to school for our kinder kids is truly special. Building positive relationships with one another and with our team is a key goal of our transition program, helping our new students develop a strong sense of identity, belonging, independence, and confidence as they begin their primary school experience.
We are excited about the next seven years with our new students and their families and look forward to a rewarding partnership ahead.
School Production
The Grade 6 students are buzzing with excitement as they rehearse for this year’s school production, What About Winter?. I’ve had the pleasure of catching a few sneak peeks during their rehearsals, and it’s clear we’re in for another fantastic performance!
With costumes being crafted, sets and props being painted, and the orchestra tuning up, everything is coming together as opening night approaches.
Tickets can be purchased through Burrinja Theatre, and another link for ticket sales will be shared via Compass. Be sure to act quickly—tickets are expected to sell out fast!
Thanks Amanda
The breakfast station in our main corridor has taken hold and provides breakfast options and healthy snacks for our students each day. Those extra Great innovations in school don’t just happen, they need incredible volunteers to make them a success.
I would like to extend a warm and heartfelt thank you to Amanda for her outstanding dedication and support to getting the station up and running. Her hard work and commitment have made a real impact on our kids and school community, her generosity of time and spirit greatly enriches our school and we are all incredibly grateful for all that she does. Our sincere thanks to you for all you do.
If you can come on board to help Amanda with the running of the station, please let the office know.
Vale Mrs Elaine Ogden
Elaine Ogden, a former teacher of Belgrave South Primary School, passed away quite recently. Many members of our community would have known Elaine or been fortunate enough to have had her as a teacher when they attended our school. She is remembered fondly by the members of our team that worked alongside her and, I am sure, by the thousands of students whose lives she positively influenced throughout her career. From Dick Bartley, former BSPS Principal (1987 – 2007)
Elaine Ogden was a staff member at BSPS for many years in the 1990’s and early 2000’s .I am sure if you or your parents had a connection for BSPS you would have been positively influenced by her. Mrs Ogden was not only a very dedicated class room teacher across most grade levels but she was highly active and supportive of those extra experiences such as the school musicals ,school camps and those special days that make this school a great place to be. Unfortunately ,Elaine passed away suddenly. She did leave a very positive legacy here at BSPS ,with her family friends and the community. Our sincere condolences to Elaine’s family on behalf of all the staff here at BSPS.
