Seasons of Creation
To Hope and Act with Creation September 1st to October 4th
As an Earth Care school, this year a selection of students in Year 3/4 have entered into the Seasons of Creation art competition. The students collaborated on their designs and created a colourful umbrella display incorporating CREATION as the the focus.
Our write up to go with our submission:
"With the changing seasons, from winter to spring in Australia, we anticipate the welcome rains which provide sustenance for growth and new life.
The rain gives us hope for renewal and new life, all of which remind us of Gods creation. Using the umbrellas as our canvas brings the theme, ‘To hope and act with creation’ to life.
The bright vibrancy of creation bursts into colour after the spring rains, and these are the images many of the students have proudly depicted on their umbrellas."
We wish our students all the best in their art works submission. If you are interested finalists and winners will be announced on Sept 14th through the Catholic Earth care site.
Sacramental Celebration Mass and Party on the Parish Lawns
(Last Friday - August 30th)
Last Friday the Sacramental students and the 3/4 Learning Community from St Brendan’s attended a lovely Celebration Mass with Father Joe Taylor and Father Jackson Saunders. The Mass was highlighted by the Sacramental students receiving the Eucharist on their own for the first time with their peers and of course in true St Brendan’s style the singing was divine. Father Jackson and Father Joe were both in awe of the active participation of our students at Mass and praise for their singing.
After Mass the Sacramental students stayed back with myself for a wonderful celebration feast on the Parish lawns with a wonderful selection of cakes, biscuits, chips and chocolates to choose from.
Again we thank Jess Doyle (St Brendan’s Parish Sacramental coordinator) for all her organisation for this year’s Sacramental Program and the Masses with the Bishop.
THANK YOU JESS!
Professional Learning with Father Taylor- Liturgy
This week during our staff meeting, Father Joe presented an hour of Professional Learning on Liturgy. Father Joe has a deep passion and knowledge of Scripture and we feel very blessed to participate in dialogue with Father Joe on the importance of knowing, breaking open and developing connections with Scripture in our classrooms, with our students. Throughout the hour Father Joe gave staff time to share in dialogue around the meaning of the Scripture passages for this Wednesdays Mass.
Family Life Relationships Information Evening
last Wednesday – August 28th
Last Wednesday Colleen Hampson from CESL facilitated an information evening for the families and the children in Years 5/6. The Life Relationships Program, which has been developed in the Sandhurst Diocese is a Unit of work all Year 5/6 students are involved in at the moment as a part of their Religious Education Program.
Thank you to those who took time to join their child for this information evening, the connections and partnerships we foster as parents and teachers of the children is an important component to developing and supporting the students through this important time in their physical, social and emotional development. Thank you.
We also thank Colleen for her time and support with our Senior Year teachers. And of course to all our Senior Years teachers for their attendance on the night, a great turn out. Thank you.
