District Athletics Carnival

The District Athletics Carnival was on Monday 5th August. It was a sunny Winter’s day and our squad of 39 athletes were ready to take on the competition. The squad took part in the following Track and Field events: 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, 80m hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Discus and 4 x 100m relay.

 

The squad was made up of students from Grade 4 - 6 who gave up their lunch times to trial and train and consisted of Sabrina Ali, Delia Bhathena, Alanna Phan, Annie Nguyen, Kayalvili Yogesh Anand, Jacob Henriquez, Ethan Caisip, Viraj Dhanoa, Brian Lee, Ojulu Didumo, Kintan Chakraborty, Shevon Gunasekara, Christopher Zhang, Joseph Lukmandjaja, Clare DSilva, Amy Tan, Veronica Truong, Charlotte Chaffey, Catherine Zhao, Adeljon Belaniso, Leo McDermott, Benito Bygine, Jacob Cherusil, Steven Ma, Tasvin Ravikrishnan, Maggie Samudrala, Adonia Abraham, Anabel Abraham, Sanvi Patel, Odeleyah Rigamoto, Namasvi Bodepudi, Cecilia Cao, Daniel Defa, Wen Hao Chen, Andreas Polendakis, Dylan Samarasinghe Arachchige, Kevin Gimson, Anay Rao and Ethan D from Grade 3 who has consistently trained with the team over the past two years.

 

Well done to all students who represented St Peter’s, you should be so proud of yourselves as you showed exceptional sportsmanship, team spirit by supporting each other, hard work and grit.  This year our squad came home with many more ribbons than usual, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication you have all put in to prepare for the event. Thanks also to all the students who helped me run the triple jump event on the day along with parents Karen and Celia.

 

To progress to the next round (Divisions) an athlete needed to finish in the top 2 for their event. 

 

A big CONGRATULATIONS to the following students who have progressed to the next round:

  • Kintan - 12 Boys 🥇1st Shot Put; 🥇1st 80m hurdles; 🥈2nd 1500m 
  • Benito -  11 Boys 🥇1st Long Jump; 🥇1st Triple Jump 
  • Odeleyah - 9/10 Girls 🥇1st Shot Put
  • Daniel D -  9/10 Boys 🥈2nd High Jump

 

This will be held at Bill Sewart Athletics Track (Burwood East) on 9/10/2024. Good luck team!

  • Benito - 11 Boys 🥉 3rd High Jump; 4th 100m

Thank you to Ms Chamberlain and Ms Rashida for guiding and supporting the athletes on the day, stacking hurdles, marshalling students and everything else in between; thank you also to the following mum’s Karen and Celia for your support on the day, helping with the students and getting them to their events to ensure our squad were well looked after.
