Science in Kinder

Grasping a spinning top between your fingers helps the development of pincer grasp, in hand manipulation, arch development and eye hand coordination. All these are fine motor skills that are needed for correct pencil grip. We have had a spinning top table at kinder over the last week and the children have been enjoying the experience and developing strong fingers.

For Science week, the Correa children made their own spinning top from a cd, a bottle top and a marble.

We had a science lesson learning about spinning things. The children learnt that you need to add a force to make an object spin and also learnt about an axis. We looked at a few different objects that spin and the children were able to name other objects at home that spin. ( washing machine, bike, car wheels, beaters).  Such clever children!!

CHARITY DRIVE!

Hi Families,

As part of our community connections, we are working with Pets Of The Homeless to collect items which are desperately in need.

There will be a donation box located outside the kindergarten classrooms that you are welcome to place any donations in. If they are too big, you are welcome to give them to your classroom teachers.

We will be taking donations now up until the 6th of September. Please refer to the attached handout on what can be donated!

I have attached the website for Pets Of The Homeless for you to see the amazing things that they do for the wider community.

Thank you so much for your support
