Netball Season Comes to an End
Last round game
Saturday 24 August was the final round game of netball for the season. Although it has been a very disruptive season with the wet weather in Term 2, we managed to have some great games throughout Term 3. We also finished on a high on Saturday with crazy hair and sock day, music throughout the breaks and lots of wins.
A huge thank you to all of the girls who played netball this season and to our wonderful coaches. This season we had our largest number of teams playing in the RNA competition which has been a highlight.
We will have 3 teams progress to the semi-finals. Although this is down from last year, we are very proud of all the teams this season. The teams who are through to the semi-finals are:
Kambala 1 who finished 1st and are also leading the IGSA competition, have had an extremely successful season so far.
Kambala 2 who have been consistent all season and can beat anyone on their day.
Kambala 7 who have really started to fire in the second half of the season.
I can’t wait to watch all of these teams in action next week.
Team of the Week
Last Saturday 17 August was the final round game for Kambala 13 as they had a BYE on 24 August. This team is a year 8 team and some of the girls had never played netball before. The team had not won a game all season but continued to have a very high attendance rate at training and at the extra skills sessions in Term 2. On Saturday all of this training and consistency paid off as they WON their very first game! The girls defeated Reddam 18-6! I am so proud of the improvement in each and every girl in this team and really hope they return next year. Well done girls!
House Netball Fun to end the Season
To celebrate the end of the season we had some house netball fun for our year 9 teams on Thursday 22 August. All of our year 9 players competed in their houses to crown the “house of the year”. We had music playing, gave out some prizes and had lots of fun. Wentworth house was victorious on the day. Well done to all for getting into the spirit and making the end of the season a lot of fun.
Year 7 and 8 will have the same competition on Monday 26 August which will be a lot of fun too.

New Zealand Basketball Star!
A huge congratulations to Makenzie Disher Year 9 who has just been selected in the New Zealand U15 National team. The team will compete in the upcoming FIBA U15 women’s Oceania Cup in November.
The U17 Women’s cycle operates over a three-year FIBA progression system, beginning with the FIBA U15 Oceania Cup – previously known as the Oceania Championships – in November. The top two countries from this competition progress to the FIBA U16 Women’s Asia Cup in 2025, with the four highest-ranked teams earning a place at the cycle’s pinnacle event: the FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup in 2026.
Good luck Makenzie!

Year 3 Minkey Hockey
Year 3 sport for this term is Minkey Hockey, which is a modified version of Hockey. Minkey was developed to introduce young people to a modified version of full field Hockey. The smaller fields and teams allow players to develop good hockey and team skills prior to playing full field hockey.
Under the guidance of Kambala Old Girls Arabella Munro, Camilla Scott and Bella Pursehouse the girls have shown great improvement and continued understanding of the fundamentals of Hockey.
On Saturdays the girls play in a friendly competition at Ascham School against both Ascham and SCEGGS. We look forward to seeing the girls continue to improve before the season finishes.

The Kambala team was hit by injury, illness and the clash with State Snowsports but it was gratifying to see how many girls stepped up to compete to fill holes in the team. We are most appreciative of the efforts of every athlete in the Kambala team. A large number of girls achieved their personal best on the day scoring the PB socks!
While we await the final results, we must congratulate the Kambala medal winners.
