FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Term 3 - Week 6

This week I am in Sydney participating in the Australian Institute of Company Directors course. The course is not only a reflection in my pursuit of being a lifelong learner, though a challenging experience where I get to learn alongside some extremely successful individuals who hold prominent roles.

Fellow classmates include senior executives from Microsoft, Tourism Australia and GrainCorp. While every participant has a different story to tell, there is commonality in their commitment to being the best version of themselves which enables them to provide increased value to their company. Something I strive for myself.

Learnings from this week will certainly help me to grow in my role as Principal of St Nicholas.

Right to disconnect laws

On Monday, new legislation in regards to employees' right to disconnect came into effect. The main focus of the legislation is to support employees' ability to disconnect from work demands during personal time.

From a school perspective it is important to clarify this legislation also encompasses parents contacting staff after hours.

St Nicholas is extremely fortunate to have a parent community who is committed to supporting both their child in their learning and our staff as professionals. Thank you for being committed to your child’s education while also trusting our staff as professionals with the ability to disconnect during their personal time.

Next week I will continue to report to you on our deep dive into NAPLAN 2024.

Have a great week!
