Year 9 Students Explore Melbourne’s Iconic Landmarks

This term, our Year 9 students embarked on 2 exciting excursions to Melbourne City, where they had the opportunity to visit some of the city’s most iconic attractions.

The first excursion was to the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), where students were inspired by the vast collection of art from Australian and international artists. The exhibits sparked thoughtful discussions and allowed students to explore different forms of artistic expression. Then the students ascended the Eureka Skydeck, where they marvelled at the breathtaking views of Melbourne from the southern hemisphere’s highest observation deck. The panoramic views provided a perfect end to a day filled with learning and exploration.

The second excursion started with a visit to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), where students learned about the rich history of Australian sports and enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the legendary stadium. Next, they strolled through the tranquil Royal Botanical Gardens, taking in the beautiful landscapes and learning about the diverse plant species that thrive in this urban oasis. The experience was educational and refreshing, perfectly blending nature and history.

These excursions enhanced the students' appreciation of Melbourne's rich cultural and natural heritage while also helping them create unforgettable memories. We are excited to see the projects they will develop following their final city excursions.

The best part of the excursion was going on the Eureka Tower and getting a full 360 view of the Melbourne city and the suburban areas, looking down from the walkout deck gave me the chills but was fun.

The National Gallery of Victoria was pretty cool for some people who are into art but wasn’t really for me however I did find the artwork really cool and the excursion was pretty fun but would’ve been better if I was with more of my friends
