Kitchen Garden

456 students enjoyed their second Kitchen Garden program for this term with another session for the 234's scheduled.

Next week the whole school will be working on the vegetable garden beds; weeding, feeding, mulching and planting out the seeds they have been propagating. All families welcome to join us (F/1 & 4/5/6 at 11:40 and 2/3/4 at 12:50).

Big thanks to Jo for gaining Woolworths Junior Landcare funding for our From Seed To Plate project.

Waterway Revegetation Project

Melbourne Water provided the funding for weed management, jute mulching and the tube stock (plants) for the waterway revegetation project where the willows were removed. Dean Platt from Melbourne Water came and looked at the planting we have done during 2023 and 2024.  He said that he is particularly happy with all the work the students and teachers have done planting and watering, as the tussock grasses and woody shrubs are growing successfully. There is evidence of increasing biodiversity, as he noticed that four or five local riparian plant species have reappeared, not to mention the chorus of frogs that can be heard.

School Jackets

Since we introduced the soft shell, fleece lined school jacket, about half of the school student population have purchased them. Our 'dressing for the weather' work last term has led to students coming to school dressed appropriately. Students are wearing their jackets and beanies and layering up.

Jackets and beanies are still available from the school office.
