A note from Mr Jackson

Concert Tickets Close

A reminder that the purchase of concert tickets close this weekend. Don’t miss out, as shortly after the cut off date, any spare tickets will be reallocated. Information on the purchase process is available on Compass. Please give the office a call if you need support.

Lunches

A growing number of students have been presenting at the front office without lunch. There are a diverse range of reasons, from a spilled lunchbox in the playground, through to the possibility their lunch is still on the kitchen counter! We are seeking to identify students who have come to school without lunch earlier in the day, so parents can be informed and lunches can be arranged in a timely manner.

Thanks to all who continue to take the opportunity to have conversations around healthy food habits with their children while providing lunch. It has been great to have conversations with students, proud to share their healthy lunch.

Staffing Strains Continue

Casual staffing continues to be stretched across the metropolitan area. There have been several times over the last few weeks that we have been forced to split classes for periods of the day. We are thankful for staff who continue to respond flexibly and supportively to fill staffing absences.  We and the community appreciate our staff efforts.

Educational Support

We have recently approved the appointment of two educational support staff to work with teachers and students in the classroom. I look forward to introducing them to the community over the coming weeks.

Smart Watches

A reminder that mobile devices with the capability to communicate to other devices such as mobile phones and watches are to be handed in at the office, where they can be stored securely until the afternoon. Over the last few weeks there have been a number of student incidents that have caused teachers concern. The Mobile Phone Policy is mandated through government schools and has been enacted to support student health and wellbeing.  Please find attached the Rosanna Primary Policy, which mirrors the Departments Policy.

Parent Survey

The 2024 Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey (PCGOS) has been extended until the end of Term 3, Friday 20 September. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement.  Your opinions are important to us and will contribute to identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. The department will use the results from the survey for research purposes and to improve outcomes for students.

The survey only takes 20 minutes to complete. It can be completed on any internet enabled device (desktop computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone) and is compatible with most browsers.  The survey is available in English and 10 other languages: Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. If you require assistance in another language, resources may be available for you. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school if you require assistance in another language.  Please see the Compass Newsfeed to participate.

Little Legends

There is great energy with many students collecting litter and gather Little Legend tokens. One token each day can be earned and if students collect five they will be presented with a badge at the last assembly of term. A special thanks to the Sustainability Agents for keeping our yard clean.

ICAS Heroes

Well done to the 29 students who have bent their brains around Mathematics, Writing, English and Science assessments this year. These extra curricular experiences have encouraged students to ‘have-a-go' and celebrate the effort in striving to extend themselves. We will present these champions with their certificates in the coming weeks.
