Principals Report

It has been lovely to see some more consistent sunshine as the term goes on. It's hard to believe that we are now at the end of week 6, with four weeks to go!
Pupil Free Day
On Monday 4 November (Melbourne Cup Eve) staff will have a common professional practice day. The work undertaken on these days are consistent with departmental and school priorities including planning, preparation, assessment and reporting, curriculum development and relevant professional development.
Students will not attend school on this day, however TheirCare will provide a service on this day. They have organised a fun incursion so please book in as soon as possible to ensure a spot.
Hats
A reminder that the red or blue school hats are a required part of the school uniform and will be needed again by all students from September 1st, the week after next.
Friendship Day
Last Monday was our friendship day and the students and staff had a wonderful time dressing up in green which represents 'Healthy Friendships' The students participated in online workshops with Tyson from URSTRONG and completed friendship focused activities on the day. Here is the link to the Friendship padlet to see photos from the day.

Weeding Wednesday
Thank to our small, but awesome helpers whocame along Wednesday morning. Our front garden is looking much better. Look out for the next notification of when our next weeding Wednesday will be. If you have 30 minutes to spare after drop off, it would be much appreciated!
Building Update
There has finally been some movement on our ramps. The concrete sleepers are in along the Clyde Street building and the ramp is prepared and has been inspected ready for the concrete to be poured. The door for the performing arts room has arrived, and it should be installed next week.
The works on the Speight Street deck have been inspected and this is ready for decking next week.
Medical Information
Students at school have ongoing or temporary medical requirements. Some parents/carers have given information about the medication directly to Suzi.
This information needs to go directly to the office first for processing, and then it is given to the appropriate staff member/s.
If prescribed medication that is not usually administered at school needs to be given on camp, then a doctor's letter needs to be given to the school clearly stating the medication and dosage to ensure we are following departmental policy.
Announcements at the end of the day
We are working hard to improve our procedures and processes at school and sometimes minor changes can have a huge impact. We are trying to minimise interruptions in class time so we are not having any announcements over the PA until 3:15pm or during snack & lunch eating.
We have a number of parents who come into the office at 3:15-3:30pm and ask that their child be called up to the office. Earlier this week a child was called up four times before they finally arrived. It would be more efficient if families emailed the class teacher in advance and also let their child know. This would certainly help us in maintaining limited interruptions to classrooms. I thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
