Year 7 Camp

Reflections on Camp

Year 7 Camp

Camp was absolutely amazing. Everyone made new friends, had new experiences and definitely stayed fit (it was like three days of straight leg day). First thing we did, was activities with one of the instructors, multiple people did think those were boring. But after that, we got to do the giant swing. When your 15metres above ground, and it swings you at 80kms an hour, you know you’re having fun. The adrenalin rush was crazy. Then the next day, we had the mud run, and rafting. The mud run was insane, splashing around in dirty water, sprinting up steep hills and sprinting down them without tripping was the hardest part. And some of us went a second time. With no instructor too. And heaps of kids, were sprinting the whole way. After that was the rafting, which was hard. Building the raft was easy, but getting too the other side was the hard part. The teamwork was the thing everyone was struggling with. But even so, I still think everyone had a great time. The next day, we had a few activities that I couldn’t quite remember, but I don’t care. Because we had the leap of faith! It takes you about 20 metres in the air, and the slowly lets you hang around on a rope, then slowly drops you down. It was a crazy adrenaline rush (and a bit scary). We also watched a movie, got to run around and play games. Camp was one of the best experiences, and I would do it all over again.

Camp Rumbug

On Monday the 19th of February all the Year 7s went to camp Rumbug. We got on the bus at 9:00am and had a 2 hour drive. When we got there we helped unload all of the luggage then we all went to the greenhouse and got told what we would be doing over the next few days. There were sets of cabins that were a fun experience to meet new people, the cabins were separated into boys cabins and girls cabins. After we settled in we went and did 2 activities before dinner. The Activities included:

  • Leap of Faith
  • Giant Swing
  • Mud Run
  • Group Activities
  • Raft Making
  • Survival Skills
  • Scavenger Hunt
  • Movie

For the first night we had spaghetti bolognese which wasn't too bad then we had a campfire with lots of stories and fun games. There was even one where the teachers had to act out a story. We also got to load up on marshmallows. and I'm sure the teachers soon Regretted it.

In the morning we all woke up at 7:00am and went and had breakfast. We had toast, cereal, hash browns and baked beans. Which gave us a lot of energy. Then we went off to our next Activities which were a lot of fun. Then we all met back up at the green house for lunch which was chicken wraps, after that we had

two more Activities before dinner. It was butter chicken with naan bread and rice. Then we had a choice of a shrek movie or a scavenger hunt of our countries.

The next morning we woke up at 6:30am and packed our stuff up, then we went out for breakfast which was toast, scrambled eggs and BACON! Then we had our final two Activities, after that we had our final meal there which was burgers. Then we said our final goodbyes to the lovely instructors. We then we hopped on the bus and left.

The camp instructors were very friendly and funny. They would say jokes that would make everyone laugh. It was a fun Experience and made a memory that would stick forever.
