Principal's Update
This term is flying along already! We are already halfway through the term and next week we will welcome our Foundation students for their first full week of school. To assist in settling into the school routine, our Foundation students have had Wednesday's off so far, and we look forward to having them here for the full week.
Swimming Sports
On Friday 16th February we held our annual swimming carnival at the Cobram Outdoor Pool. The kids had an absolute ball and enjoyed the chance to participate. All students gave their best efforts on the day and the students need to be commended for their attitude and behaviour. Thank you to all our families that came along to cheer on the swimmers, it was fantastic to be able to have our families in attendance again.
Due to their results at the swimming carnival some students had the opportunity to attend the Division Swimming Trials in Shepparton last week. Congratulations to Kiara, Jordyn, Dusty, Ashton, Mia, Cruze, Caleb, Harper, Noah, Ashtyn, Issy and Kyle! There was so tough competition on the day and our swimmers swam some fantastic races, with a few personal bests achieved! Well done!
Attendance
The students that have consistency with their attendance are more likely to succeed. Students need to be at school for teachers to do what they do best! As a community we need to ensure we do everything we can to get students to school every day. If students do have a strong attendance rate, we’re giving them the best possible start in life. Remember to always communicate absences to the school if your child is away for any reason.
Students that arrive late to school are missing out on vital instructions and learning during Reading and Writing. We ask that all families minimise the disruption to their child's learning by ensuring they arrive at school each day on time and ready to learn.
This year we are continuing with our EMMAC (Every Minute Matters at Cobram) competition. The winner of this term’s attendance award will head to the Cobram cinemas as a reward.
NAPLAN
This year NAPLAN will be completed during Term 1. All tests will be delivered in an online format and assess student knowledge and skills in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The tests will be completed by Year 3 and Year 5 students between Wednesday 13th March and Monday 25th March. More information will be sent home with Year 3 and 5 students.
Road Safety
I would like to remind all parents about the importance of modelling good road safety behaviour. The only place to cross William St is at the designated school crossing. We have seen an alarming increase in parents, with children, crossing William Street at other areas and also parents calling students across the road. There have been a number of 'near misses' which have been terrifying for all involved. We have staff members on yard duty before and after school reminding students of where to cross the road safely and we are asking parents to assist us to ensure all our students are safe.
Remember my door is always open if you ever need anything. Have a great week!
