Message from the Principal

St Anthony’s Parish and St Anthony’s School hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as central and fundamental responsibilities of the Church.

St Anthony’s is fully compliant with all policies in relation to Child Safety. These documents ensure compliance with the Victorian Government Child Safety Standards which took effect on 1 January 2017 and reflect our Parish's ongoing commitment to ensuring that all children are safe, happy and empowered.

Dear Families and Friends,

Term One is coming to an end and I would like to take this time to thank all students, staff and families for enabling us to have such a wonderful and successful term. Everyone's continued support is gratefully appreciated and it is everyone's willingness to work in partnership that makes St Anthony's Primary School such a marvellous place to be.

Early in March we hosted the annual Prep and Year 5/6 Buddy BBQ. We had a large of students and families attend and we delighted to see a beautiful prayer and song presented by our brave Prep students.

Harmony Day was an amazing celebration.  We were very fortunate to have many special guests join us for our celebrations, including Deputy Mayor for Greater Dandenong Richard Lim, Eden Foster MP for Mulgrave, Fr Brian, past staff and past students. In the morning, we had over 500 people dancing Hip Hop in our school Quad and in the afternoon more guests joined us in the Big Hall to see the Chinese Dragon and Double Lion performance. To finish the day all St Anthony's students joined together in singing and dancing "This Little Light of Mine" it was a fantastic way to end a glorious day.

March has also seen St Anthony's students involved in the Get Active and Get Moving initiative. Throughout the month students were very excited to have different teachers, parents and even Lana Formoso, the Mayor for Greater Dandenong join them to complete laps of our oval with us.  We congratulate Kobe and Youngwoo, our school winners of the Get Active and Get Moving Challenge.

In the last week St Anthony's has become the first school in Greater Dandenong to be a Sport4All school. The program enables people with disabilities to join grassroots and school sports at their preference. We're very proud at St Anthony's to offer inclusive sports opportunities.

St Anthony's Primary School is the first school in the City of Greater Dandenong to become a Sport4All school. The Sport4All Program gives people with disabilities the opportunity to participate in grassroots and school sports when, where, and how they choose to do so. We are very proud at St Anthony's Primary School to support and provide opportunities for all students to participate in sports.

Term Two will bring some exciting learning opportunities for students, swimming will commence in Week Two and our Year 5/6 Students will go on camp. At the end of Week Five, May 17th construction of our new Junior Adventure Playground will begin and you can see the winning student design later in the newsletter.

Next term we welcome Jen Umezu to our St Anthony's staff. Jen will be teaching Japanese, we look forward to having her join us.

Wishing everyone a blessed Easter filled with joy.

Have a save and relaxing break, we look forward to seeing everyone return on Tuesday 16th April.
