Principal's Message

Nurture.  Innovate.  Celebrate.

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend and the pleasant weather this week. Our students in Grades 3 and 5 are actively participating in NAPLAN testing, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements as well as the dedication of our teachers, support staff and families who support their educational journey.

Foundation Family Fun Morning

It was fun extravaganza last week on Tuesday, 5th March when our Foundation students had their 'Family Fun' morning. Participating in a range of games, our students demonstrated resilience and great sportsmanship. It was delightful to see so many families attend the morning and join in on all the fun! We are excited to see the great things the Foundation students will continue to achieve across the year.

Every Day Counts

It is vital that every child attends school when they are well enough. Over the past few years so many children missed so much school, and it all adds up. There is no safe number of school absences. If you added the days your child has not attended school, you might be amazed at the lost learning time through their school life.

The Department of Education requires schools to record and report on student absences each day. Further, it is a requirement that parents or guardians provide the school with an explanation of the absence that morning. Student absences can be recorded using our communication app, XUNO or contact the front office by phone no later than 9.00am on the morning of the absence.

Staffing - New Assistant Principal

I am pleased to announce that Stephanie Sharp will commence her new role as the Assistant Principal from Wednesday, 20th March 2024. Stephanie brings a range of experience, and I am confident that she will enrich our learning and teaching environment with her expertise and enthusiasm. I look forward to welcoming her to our school community.

Clean up Maramba Community Project

It is always lovely to see our passionate students brainstorm ways in which they can help their school and wider community. Working with our school chaplain, Elise, a group of Grade 3 students decided that it would benefit the school community to clean up rubbish. They talked about how the rubbish looks for our school but also the effect it has on our environment; it's bad for the birds and bugs! The group decided they could go around and clean up rubbish in the yard to help the immediate issue but also wanted to make a poster to encourage everyone to look after our school and environment by putting their rubbish in the bins and composting our scraps. They also talked about ways they could take rubbish bags with them to their local parks and clean up there too. Well done girls!

The 2023 Annual Report provides an opportunity to share the school’s achievements and progress with the school community. The annual reporting process ensures high quality data is used and shared with the school community in order to monitor and drive school improvement. It will be presented to the school community via a public meeting in Term 2, scheduled for 18th April 2024 at 9:30am in the staffroom.

Take care everyone and enjoy the weekend!
