Principal's Message

Wawa, Wominjika.

Here at Old Orchard Primary School, we acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land we visit each day, the Wurrunguri and Woiwurrung people of the Kulin nation. We acknowledge and respect the elders and leaders past and present and the elders and leaders of all of the cultures and nationalities that are part of the Old Orchard Primary School community. We express our gratitude towards the orchards that were kept in place by the peoples on this land before us.We thank the traditional owners for sharing this beautiful land that we all love, and for keeping the land, sky, waterways and animals all in great condition for thousands of years, not only for themselves but for all the generations to come.

We were thrilled this week to officially welcome our two new school librarians, Ruth Wong and Jennifer Hurlburt. Their passion for literature and innovative ideas promise an exciting year ahead for our library. With a commitment to fostering a love for reading, our library will continue to be an enriching space for all our students.

Calling all eager parents/carers! We're on the lookout for some dedicated classroom parent representatives. Parent representatives play a crucial role in fostering strong school-home connections. Serving as liaisons between parents and teachers, they ensure effective communication, gather valuable information, and contribute to creating a sense of community. If this sounds like you, please contact Sheree in the office or register your interest via the following link. https://forms.gle/HWnPnGt3XAmaJKZa9

From all accounts our Year 6 students are having an unforgettable experience at Camp Coonawarra! Students have engaged in a variety of activities, from challenging ropes courses to water sports. No doubt some very exhausted campers will return back to school tomorrow, but they should feel so proud of all they have accomplished this week.

Next Friday 1st March, Old Orchard Primary School will be proudly participating in Clean Up Australia Day. Students and staff will work together, clearing litter and enhancing the school grounds. This collective effort not only creates a cleaner, greener environment but promotes a sense of responsibility and pride in caring for our community.

Finally, this week our Preps continue to embrace school life! Forming new friendships and mastering classroom routines has been the main focus. The enthusiasm for learning displayed by our youngest members of the school (evident by some very enthusiastic singing heard both near and far) has set a fantastic tone for the year ahead. Well done Preps!
