Specialist Curriculum Overviews for Term 1

Our termly Curriculum summaries give a snapshot of what will be happening in learning and how the challenge extends as children progress through the school.  Last week's newsletter had the class overviews.  Today's Issue (No. 2) has our Specialist overviews, which we encourage you to read.

Traffic Safety

Concern has been raised re cars driving into the lower school carpark; doing u turns; pulling into the driveway to let children out etc. as our students and families are walking into school.

Staff on gate/car park duty in the morning will be wearing a high vis. vest and moving down into the carpark to ensure safe passage for students and to stop cars entering. Staff have been advised to use the upper car park wherever possible to avoid driving in when children are entering.  Students attending Running Club and Soccer practice are reminded to gather directly outside the lower gates not across the car park, grass embankment  - while they wait for entry.

For the safety of all, we encourage families to:  park in the streets adjacent and walk your children in to school for safety; use the Kiss and Go spots at the front of the school for drop offs; book your child into Before School Care.  Gates open as 8.40am in the morning and children should not be in attendance prior to this time, as there are no teachers on yard duty. The only exception to this is students participating in Shaun Penny's Running Club (Years 3 to 6) or before school sports training.

Building and Ground Works

Last year we were successful in obtaining an $80,000 grant for a Community Garden from the Rail Loop Authority.  Phase 1 of this project commenced last week with ground works to clear an area adjacent to our current kitchen garden for garden beds for the Community Garden and in our current Kitchen Garden space.

This will be followed by a walkaround and site visit to discuss  site set-up and access for the commencement of our $225, 000 inclusive garden that will be positioned as the gateway to our Kitchen and Community Gardens.
