Positive Behaviours for Learning

At SFS, our PBL (Positive behaviours for learning) school wide expectations are:

Respect,

Responsibility and

Kindness

The whole school has a PBL lesson on a Monday at 1pm. The focus for our lesson this week was on RESPECT in OUTSIDE areas, Listen and follow instructions.

The children practiced their listening skills by playing a game outside where they needed to follow instructions and think about safety. We are also preparing the children for the Twilight Sports coming up soon so that the children know how to listen and follow instructions on the night.

This is important for us all as adults to demonstrate so that the evening goes smoothly. We need to ensure that children and adults are not walking behind the finish line or running or walking across the lanes during the event.

We also need to ensure that children stay in the designated area with the teachers and are signed out at then end of the night. The children’s safety and wellbeing is always at the front of our minds.

Here are some of our lucky PBL raffle winners from last Friday. It is wonderful to see so many children demonstrating our school values.

Harmony Day 2024

We will be celebrating Harmony Day at SFS on Thursday 21st of March.

What is Harmony Day?

It is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community.

Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it.

Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.

The teachers will be exploring this with the children at school on this day and the children will complete learning activities linked to this.

We will have a whole school Prayer service and the choir will singing some songs, at 9am in the school hall. Our families are most welcome to attend this Prayer service. Let’s celebrate the rich cultural backgrounds of all our SFS families!

Action for Happiness Calendar

Each month Action for Happiness create a calendar packed with simple everyday actions you can take to build a happier world and make happiness a habit in your life.

Each month has a different theme based on the Ten Keys to Happier Living, from Happier January and Friendly February to New Ways November and Do Good December.

For more information, visit www.actionforhappiness.org

The theme for the March calendar is Mindful March. Mindfulness is a cognitive skill of being aware of your thoughts and being able to focus your attention and sustain it for a period of time. It is about being fully aware of our body and thought in the present moment.
