Trustee Visit to Marian College, Ararat

Since the establishment of Kildare Ministries, relationships have been at the heart of our shared mission. Whether through regular ministry visits or participation in significant events across our schools and community works, the Trustees value opportunities to listen, learn and engage with local leaders, staff and students, gaining a deeper understanding of each ministry's context, community and aspirations. These encounters strengthen the collaborative leadership that underpins Kildare Ministries and enrich the Trustees' stewardship through the lived experience of our communities.
In May, the Trustees, accompanied by members of the Mission and Ministry Team, spent two days at Marian College, Ararat. Gathering first in the College chapel for prayer and reflection, the visit began in the spirit of the shared mission that unites all Kildare Ministries communities. Throughout the day, presentations, conversations and time spent with students, staff and leaders offered valuable insights into the College's vibrant community and the many ways it brings the mission and values of Kildare Ministries to life.
In her presentation, Catherine Howison, Principal, provided an overview of Marian College, highlighting the College's vision for the future and the key areas of focus across the community. Central to her presentation was the belief that students are at the heart of the College, with every decision guided by a commitment to their learning, wellbeing and flourishing. The themes Catherine shared came to life throughout the visit, particularly in our interactions with students and staff.
One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity to spend time with students from across the College. Students proudly led us on a tour of Marian College, with their pride in the school and the values it upholds evident at every turn. Later, over morning tea, students from a range of year levels shared their experiences of life at Marian College, speaking warmly of a community characterised by welcome, inclusion and belonging. They reflected with gratitude on teachers who believed in them, challenged them to grow and supported their learning and wellbeing.
The visit also provided valuable time to meet with members of the Leadership Team and staff. Conversations explored the opportunities and challenges of regional education, the importance of strong partnerships with the wider community and the aspirations guiding the future of Marian College. Throughout these discussions, a strong sense of hope, thoughtful stewardship and shared purpose was evident, reflecting a community committed to the ongoing flourishing of Marian College.
We are deeply grateful to Catherine Howison, the Leadership Team, staff and students for their generous hospitality and for sharing the life of Marian College with us so generously. Visits such as these strengthen the relationships that are at the heart of Kildare Ministries and remind us that our shared mission is nurtured through listening, learning and walking together.
