Principals' Message

Mrs Dominica Bearman

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Week 10 and the final newsletter for the term. It's been another busy and productive term with lots of learning, events and hard work by the students and our fabulous staff.  A reminder that the last day of term for students is Friday 3rd July. We hope you all enjoy the school holiday break with family and friends - stay safe and stay warm.

ACS Director Visit

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome Armidale Catholic Schools Director, Regina Menz, to our school. During a Learning Walk, Regina visited classrooms throughout the school, experiencing firsthand the calm, purposeful and productive learning environments that our students and staff create each day. She observed students actively engaged in their learning, demonstrating confidence, curiosity and a genuine enthusiasm for their work.

NAIDOC Week

St Joseph's will be celebrating NAIDOC Week next week, providing students with opportunities to learn about and celebrate the rich histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year's theme, '50 Years of Deadly', acknowledges the organisers, artists, activists and communities who have carried NAIDOC forward for five decades, ensuring it remains grounded in culture and community.

As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, Ms Rhodes has planned a range of meaningful learning experiences for all students. Throughout the week, students will explore this year’s theme and deepen their understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

We look forward to coming together as a school community to acknowledge the significance of NAIDOC Week and thank Ms Rhodes for her dedication to organising these valuable opportunities for our school community.

Catholic School Parents NSW/ACT – Supporting Families in Catholic Education

We are pleased to share a new promotional video from the Catholic School Parents NSW/ACT (CCSP), the peak body representing parents and carers in Catholic schools across New South Wales and the ACT.

The video highlights the important work CCSP undertakes in advocating for families, supporting parent engagement, and providing a strong voice for parents and carers in Catholic education. It also outlines the organisation’s role in working alongside schools, dioceses and educational authorities to ensure that families' perspectives are heard.

An exciting addition to the updated video is information about CCSP’s expanded role in representing parents and carers with children attending Catholic diocesan preschools and long day care centres, commencing in 2027.

We encourage all families to take a few minutes to watch the video and learn more about the valuable support and advocacy available to Catholic school communities.
